...I bought my Dyson DC02 - the cylinder model after seeing all the advertisements and media hype about what a revolutionary product this was. i was extremely disappointed with what i found. To start with a big selling point is that you do not need bags. This is true but it still needs emptying and you have to be very careful when attempting to pour all the dust into the rubbish bin the dust flies everywhere whereas if you had a bag you could just pick it up and throw it away. Also, although you do not have to pay for replacement bags, you do need to but filters every three months which are more expensive than bags....

...I bought my Dyson DC02 about 18 months ago probably before they became a houshold name and before all the other manufacturers starting getting in on the 'bagless revolution'. What attracted me to the DC02 was its compact size, light weight and of course NO BAGS! Since buying it as a replacement for a Vax Wet and Dry vacuum (which fell apart in about 2 years) I have not been disappointed. This machine packs a powerful suck which picks up dirt you didn't know you had. The clear dust bin has a good capacity and is easy to remove and empty and being all plastic is easy to wash. The only down side to the Dyson is the filters which have to be replaced fairly frequently and are quite pricey. I believe newer models have life-long filters....
