As pay day arrived yesterday it was time for me to stock up on cleaning products as we needed some odds and ends after our mass cleaning project last weekend.
My first stop??? Home Bargains of course!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Who are Home Bargains??? A discount store offering branded products at the lowest prices, in my opinion they are a very close competitor to the likes of Savers, B+M and Wilkinson.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Where did they come from??? Tom Morris was the founder of TJ Morris Ltd 30 years ago and he opened his first store in Old Swan, Liverpool so it is no suprise that the majority of the stores are located in the North of England, Wales and the Midlands unfortunately there do not appear to be any down South.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* What can I buy from there??? Home Bargains is a bit of a mini supermarket stocking Health and Beauty Products from leading brands such as Cussons, Colgate, Herbal Essences, Nivea, Radox, Original Source, Sensodyne, Head and Shoulders, Andrew Collinge, Garnier the list is endless.
Food products include pasta and rice, sauces, soups, tinned vegetables, cereals, crackers and cakes and biscuits from leading brands such as Quaker, Princes, Tilda, Uncle Bens, Sharwoods, Batchelors and HP.
Toys and games include Prams, Dolls, Action figures, Paddling pools, craft sets many more and again they are all branded names sush as Play-doh, Zapf Creation, Tomy and Polly Pocket.
Household Products such as Mr Muscle, Fairy, Comfort and Daz can all be found here and as well as the Washing Powders, Fabric Softners, Spray Starch and Air Fresheners, you can stock up on bargain staples such as pegs, bin bags, scouring pads, dishclothes and dusters literally anything you need to scrub your house from top to bottom.
Sweets and snacks are also stocked with Cadbury's, Bassett, Rowntrees and many more all at much cheaper prices than your average store or your works vending machine.
Many of the products do have a short shelf life and this tends to be why the prices are lower but the quality is not compromised in any way and you can pick up some great bargains.
Alcohol is also stocked in the stores with brand names such as Boddingtons and Strongbow there are plenty to choose from and the wine is reasonably priced as well.
You can also pick up some real bargains such as Friends DVD's for just 99p, Bathroom Scales, Pots, Pans, Candles, Bird Tables, Picnic Tables, Barbecues, practically anything you may not think to buy all at affordable prices.
My nearest store is located in Flint on the Aber retail park and is not as big as some of the ones located in Liverpool.
The majority of stores are all located on one level and have large price tags so you know exactly what to get, I have started stocking up for christmas presents here as the prices are so low I can get a little bit extra for my Niece as they currently have lots of Barbie items in stock and she is into those.
I have to admit the stock turnover is high so you need to pop in reguarly to keep up to date with the bargains and today I noticed that they had 40 litre bins with the pop up lid something we wanted for our new kitchen but had not seen them very low priced, Home Bargains had one for £29.99 and I am very pleased with it, its more stylish than the ones I have seen in B&Q and the Brabantia ones that are £50 + in Dunelm so if you ever want low kitchen products check this store out first.
They do accept refunds provided that you have the original recipt and the item is still in the condition that it was sold to you.
One disadvantage is that the queues can be fairly long as more staff seem to be stocking the shelves than serving people but that is my only complaint.
A real bargain store.

A real Gem on the retail scene. I,m buying a house at the moment so I am skint. Yes, these stores can be full of rubbish but if you look hard enough round the likes of Home & Bargain (as it used to be called) and B&M you can find a few quick wins! Nice review

I love this shop. We don't have it here in London, but when back up north I fill my car boot with Original Source for 69p - yeah! The only downside was that the store sometimes seems to be full of winos after the cheap booze. Oh, and last time lots of of partially sighted pensioners ramming me with their shopping trolleys - or maybe it was just me?!

having acquired a neice and nephew over the last 2 years this shop is fantastic for lower price branded toys! my only grip with our local store is that if you haven't bought anything you can't just walk out, you have to queue with everyone else cos the checkout aisles are so narrow! angela x
Advantages: lots of bargains to be had! Disadvantages: stuff sells out quickly
