I have had Homechoice for a couple of months now, and am content with it.

You should take that posting as a warning that when things go wrong, Homechoice does not appear to by sympathetic. ... ...in her comments on the Homechoice BBS. You should also know that MisterWolf comes across as a sober, sensible commentator, who has good cause to make strong statements.
Nevertheless, I am content with the service I have had from Homechoice. I do not use it for gaming, so ping times are not critical for me. I use the system for surfing, shopping and e-mail, and it is perfectly adequate for that, at least my connection is adequate.

Advantages: cheap Disadvantages: lost emils, poor customer service, slow connection speed, wildly fluctuating connection speed, and occasional loss of service completely (around 5 times a month)
I had Homechoice installed about a month ago and have had nothing but problems with it from the start.
I had the video on demand service installed at the same time, this makes the installation £40 instead of the £80 that they charge for just having the internet service installed. The installation itself was no problem, both the BT engineer and the Homechoice engineer turned up at the right time and it was all done fairly quickly and without any ... ...ADSL service, which I feel is very misleading as ADSL is traditionally a 512kbps service, and the Homechoice fast internet service is only 112kbps, and a significant part of that is sectioned off for the tv on demand, even if your tv on demand is not being used you cannot access that part of the connection to improve your speed.
Since then I have had problems with both the Tv service and the internet connection. I am currently connecting at speeds ...

...or not depended on what home choice was offering to compensate. 31st Oct (Monday) no call back from Emma, decided to cancel subscription. Got through to customer support (after 20 mins) to initiate cancellation. Also sent an email through the website and have still not had any response from it.
Tuesday 1st Nov: An engineer came to collect the box. I started calling at 10.30 to find out the procedure to cancel the subscription after he left, it took ... ...with a combination of leading-edge home entertainment services and the highest level of service. I must admit I've had homechoice for about 2 years and had resonably been happy but, since Tiscali have taken over, problems are beginning to show. Got home today to find service not working yet again. Phoned there so called Technical people and, after 15 minutes of switching box on and off and then unplugging box from electric socket a membr of there technical team, someone called Liam who refused to give his surname, confirmed the box was not working. He then proudly announced an engineer will have to call but the earliest available date will be Saturday week. So no TV for me this week, I better pop to the shops tomorrow and buy some books I guess.

We were happy with the service. Then we moved house and they started a new contract - I was told that this was just administration, not a new contract - only when we cam eto leave we were still tied in. THe customer services was appalling. Where they used to be open till at least 10pm they are now only open till 8. The new series appearing on C1 seemed to get smaller and smaller and only ... ...programmes they have on replay (some episodes of a series, but not all - so you couldn't rely on it to watch something the whole way through.
Generally we are annoyed with them - we have swapped now to Sky+ and are happier with that, but we still have to pay for a basic Homechoice package until April (even though we have been with them for over 18 months).
