HomeChoice--Not so fast internet 21/07/2001

Advantages OK speed; can use the web and the phone; Fast connection times
Disadvantages Inflexible; tech service can be poor; terrible movies

I have had Homechoice for a couple of months now, and am content with it. You will have read MisterWolf's opinion, and MisterWolf has had very significant problems, which are explained at length to readers of the Homechoice bulletin boards (Homechoice management included). Unfortunately, you need to have a homechoice address to read the BBS You should take that posting as a warning that when things go wrong, Homechoice does not appear to by sympathetic. Homechoice FAST internet is a joke 05/04/2001

Advantages cheap
Disadvantages lost emils, poor customer service, slow connection speed, wildly fluctuating connection speed, and occasional loss of service completely (around 5 times a month)

I had Homechoice installed about a month ago and have had nothing but problems with it from the start. I had the video on demand service installed at the same time, this makes the installation £40 instead of the £80 that they charge for just having the internet service installed. The installation itself was no problem, both the BT engineer and the Homechoice engineer turned up at the right time and it was all done fairly quickly and without any hassle. The "fast" internet service is sold as an ADSL service, which I feel is very misleading as ADSL is traditionally a 512kbps service, and the ... more

homechoice, there are ways out of their contract! 07/12/2007

To anyone having problems with Homechoice and were threatened with a full years subscription fee to cancel the contract, there are ways out of it. Below is the letter I sent them highlighting the problems I had with customer service and the sevice as a whole. They agreed to cancel my contract at no charge after this letter. I think the key in any situation like this (and homechoice are one of the worst!) is to record names and times of every person you speak to and every person at the company that doesn't respond to your problems. when you can prove that they are in breach of their contractual ... more

Quick review of Home Choice by IanofBarnet 23/06/2007

I must admit I've had homechoice for about 2 years and had resonably been happy but, since Tiscali have taken over, problems are beginning to show. Got home today to find service not working yet again. Phoned there so called Technical people and, after 15 minutes of switching box on and off and then unplugging box from electric socket a membr of there technical team, someone called Liam who refused to give his surname, confirmed the box was not working. He then proudly announced an engineer will have to call but the earliest available date will be Saturday week. So no ... more

HOMECHOICE - revised opinion 25/03/2007

Advantages Not so many any more
Disadvantages changes in Customer services attitude

I left a rave review for Homechoice about 18 months ago... since then my opinion has changed dramatically. While the package that they offer is OK - the price has crept up and the service offered has declined. Other providers now offer similar sevices and they have been bought out by Ticali - and it shows. We have had odd problems (box switchin off, moving home and ebing conned... We were happy with the service. Then we moved house and they started a new contract - I was told that this was just administration, not a new contract - only when we cam eto leave we were still tied in. THe customer ... more
