Pioneer receiver
Advantages: Lots of power and range of tones Disadvantages: Not enough speaker connections
This pioneer receiver is a great buy. It will work great for a home theater or just some great sound ina room or through out the house. I have mine connected in my room. I only wish it had a sub out for connecting a high power sub to the receiver. I was still able to connect a sub by useing the left two speaker connects to run to one but now my sound is mono with all bass from one side and everything from another. It has lots of power though and ... ...to connect almost anything. A great feature is if you are over powering or messed up the wireing it will shut its self off and say over loaded. norammly all you need to do is turn it off and back on to reset adn play it a little lower other wise you know you have a wire crossed. The remote is a good remote works from a distance and can do everything so you don't have to move from your seat. Also there is alot of adjustments you can do to perfectly ...

Beginers sound
Advantages: Cheap, good sound, good features Disadvantages: Large and bulky
...package I bought was the Yamaha RX-V396RDS. I bought this package from a High street retailer for £299.99 approximately 2 Years ago, when this type of amplifier was relatively new to the market. Now I have seen this package for less than £200.
This is the first stand alone amplifier that I have bought for my ‘home cinema’ experience, previous to this I was using my old hi-fi with it’s 4 speakers as surround sound, the difference heard was unbelievable. ... ...box (approximately…), on opening this box you find there are two smaller boxes inside one for the speakers and one for the amplifier.
The amplifier box includes:
Amplifier (AV receiver)
Remote control (inc. batteries)
Owner’s manual (about the size of ‘War and Peace’)
Connection guide
The speaker box includes:
Main - 2 x 60W
Centre - 1 x 60W
Rear - 2 x 60W
Sub Woofer ...

review of sony STR-DB 930 QS S
Advantages: quality external sound processor and amp, excellent sound reproduction Disadvantages: none really
A real quality system, you could pay 3 times the price for similar sounds, make sure you use this product with a full complement of speakers, you really do not want to miss a thing, I hardley use the radio functions, as mine is hooked up directly to a freeview box and I tend to listen too the radio that way, but the build in tuner works well enough, bring DVD's to life with full suround, its the only way to watch and hear your favorite films, works ... ...to all your CD's as well. Connects also to you old VCR, but they generally have much poorer sound, and this quality system will bring out the best sound you could hope to get with VCR's but don't expect miricles.
I hope this review is useful to you, this is an excellent sound system, well worth consideration to any sound perfectionist. ...

Pop on some popcorn
Advantages: Flexibility, Well priced Disadvantages: Not ideal sonically, Remote is large and somewhat confusing
...different matter altogether.
The Denon AVR-3300 is one component that starts to make this possible for the average houshold. It is a mid-priced receiver that nicely handles a full range of input sources. From an optical or co-ax source from your DVD player, feeding Dolby Digital or DTS signals, all the way through to a phono connection.
Yes, that's right - this is a home cinema receiver that doesn't forget it's roots....your vinyl can snuggle up ... ...As amps. go, the AVR-3300 is well featured, it has a selection of inputs and input types - composite video, component video and S-video; digital co-ax and optical. It is worth noting, however, that the amp will only switch 'like for like', i.e. S-video inputs are switched out on S-video outputs, and not 'converted' to an additional component output. I have the receiver happily handling a tape desk, CD player, DVD player, video, satellite receiver ...

Advantages: Value for money, build quality, features Disadvantages: Difficult to bi-wire
...like the value of the Sherwood RVD 6095RDS. If you are just starting out in the world of home cinema, or if you are on a budget and looking to replace an ageing amp, then Sherwood are a brand you should consider.
Richer Sounds are tied up with Sherwood to such an extent that you will find it difficult to obtain Sherwood products from any other UK supplier. That is not to say they are an ‘Own Brand’ product, far from it. Sherwood have ... ...than a year old the Sherwood RVD 6095RDS is largely future-proof in that it caters for most audio technology available now or on the horiaon. The only initiative it doesn’t directly cater for is the Dolby THX 6 channel technology which has been seen on a small number of recent DVDs. However, with DTS still establishing itself in the UK DVD market and most audio DVDs relying on Dolby 5.1 you will still have plenty to enjoy in the coming months.
