Pop on some popcorn

Advantages: Flexibility, Well priced
Disadvantages: Not ideal sonically, Remote is large and somewhat confusing

...different matter altogether. The Denon AVR-3300 is one component that starts to make this possible for the average houshold. It is a mid-priced receiver that nicely handles a full range of input sources. From an optical or co-ax source from your DVD player, feeding Dolby Digital or DTS signals, all the way through to a phono connection. Yes, that's right - this is a home cinema receiver that doesn't forget it's roots....your vinyl can snuggle up ...
...As amps. go, the AVR-3300 is well featured, it has a selection of inputs and input types - composite video, component video and S-video; digital co-ax and optical. It is worth noting, however, that the amp will only switch 'like for like', i.e. S-video inputs are switched out on S-video outputs, and not 'converted' to an additional component output. I have the receiver happily handling a tape desk, CD player, DVD player, video, satellite receiver ...

Surround Sound with Attitude

Advantages: Does exactly what it says on the box !
Disadvantages: So far, none ! Although even I find that difficult to believe

...system as its stands, the Denon kicks out a heart thudding chunky sound for Home Cinema use, with the subwoofer playing a very prominent role at the lowest end of the frequency spectrum. I confess, I am a LFE (low frequency effects) junkie, I love explosions, car chases, gunfire etc. A lot of my DVD collection confirms this ! BUT, the system is equally at home playing Classic FM on the radio, or any of my 400+ CDs, and the sound is smooth, with ...

Brilliant Amplifier, It really wont disappoint.

Advantages: Powerful, Capable and Brilliant
Disadvantages: Expensive and Bulky

...:). The Yamaha only scores a satisfactory on the ease of use as it has just so many functions and so many capabilities it would just be impossible to make this thing simple. With a million different settings for the effect of the sound it can all get a little bit silly. You can set the Z9 to the acoustics of venues across the world, like cathedrals in certain cities or football stadiums. But really I’ve found its all too much like hard work and ...
...for the money you're paying it should do some things for itself. When setting up a new system it will calibrate itself, once all the speakers are plugged in and set up. There is a microphone which you plug into the Z9 and then leave the room. The speakers will all kick out some sound and the Z9 will set them all up with the distances and delays automatically, saving you some time. It has loads of inputs which i run all of my devices through, DVD ...

Pioneer VSX-AX5i Multi-Channel amp

Advantages: HUGE SOUND EASY SET UP
Disadvantages: NEIGHBOURS MAY GO OFF YOU

I have owned this A/V receiver for last 2 years and never had a single problem. Prior to this amp i had experianced various cheaper amps but none could come close to the sound this baby produces.Ok it only puts out 100watts per channel but this is more than most rooms can handle unless you live in a night club. It also has 7 speaker outputs where you can use it for DTS.ES or Dolby digital 5.1EX alternatively you can use the surround back channels ...
...you will need to.The remote is a work of art to allowing you to use it for all your other appliances ie, cd player , tape deck, TV, DVD player, it works everything i have tried. It even has USB input for other devices. The amp does weigh just under 20kg so take care on glass shelves etc.The spec is available on various web sites so i will spare you all that geeky stuff. My advice to you is to search the net if you are thinking of buying one i paid ...

...deal. I got this Marantz A/V Receiver , A Yamaha surround sound speaker package and a Panasonic DVD recorder for the princly sum of £350 - a bit of a discount from the £900 RRP! I'll be reviewing each product in turn so check out my other reviews if you want a full system checkup! ...only look and feel good to use, they also have the reputation for shear high end quality. Unfortunately they were always well out of my price range! 2) The decision I was presented with a choice of three receivers, all of which fitted my requirements for connections, features etc. They included a Sony, a Yamaha and this Marantz. Well, I fell in love with this unit the moment I saw it - especially when the salesman explained that it has been the ...
