Review of Denon AVR-3300 by
CraigBruce
Advantages: Flexibility, Well priced
Disadvantages: Not ideal sonically, Remote is large and somewhat confusing
...different matter altogether.
The Denon AVR-3300 is one component that starts to make this possible for the average houshold. It is a mid-priced receiver that nicely handles a full range of input sources. From an optical or co-ax source from your DVD player, feeding Dolby Digital or DTS signals, all the way through to a phono connection.
Yes, that's right - this is a home cinema receiver that doesn't forget it's roots....your vinyl can snuggle up ... ...As amps. go, the AVR-3300 is well featured, it has a selection of inputs and input types - composite video, component video and S-video; digital co-ax and optical. It is worth noting, however, that the amp will only switch 'like for like', i.e. S-video inputs are switched out on S-video outputs, and not 'converted' to an additional component output. I have the receiver happily handling a tape desk, CD player, DVD player, video, satellite receiver ...

Surround Sound with Attitude
Review of Denon AVR-1803 AV Receiver by
g8ina
Advantages: Does exactly what it says on the box !
Disadvantages: So far, none ! Although even I find that difficult to believe
...as reviewed :
The Denon 1803 AV receiver
Pioneer 656A DVD player
Thompson 32" WS 100Hz TV
Sony VHS recorder
Sky TV
Speakers :
Fronts : Acoustic Energy Aegis EVO3's
Rears : KEF Coda 7's
Centre : Tannoy MXC
Sub : Yamaha YST-SW320
All speaker cabling is bi-wired where possible, with as chunky a cable as my house furnishings will allow ! Interconnects are generally optical where possible, or QED Gold Ends otherwise. One cable (to the sub woofer) ... ...system as its stands, the Denon kicks out a heart thudding chunky sound for Home Cinema use, with the subwoofer playing a very prominent role at the lowest end of the frequency spectrum. I confess, I am a LFE (low frequency effects) junkie, I love explosions, car chases, gunfire etc. A lot of my DVD collection confirms this !
BUT, the system is equally at home playing Classic FM on the radio, or any of my 400+ CDs, and the sound is smooth, with ...

Denon AVR3802
Review of Denon AVR-3802 7.1 Receiver by
bazh
Advantages: Decent power on tap for explosions and high volume action
Disadvantages: Not up to scratch in stereo mode
Now only available second hand but a belter of a bargain if you can get one. At its best with loud brash action films. Loads of power to handle explosions. Equipped with most surround technologies that you'd ever need up to 7.1 channels of the stuff(Dolby Digital, DTS, S, DTS-ES, Prologic 1 and 11 and a wide variety of sound field processing). Only downside is the same one that the majority of home cinema receivers in this price range suffer from ...

Quality DTS - Dolby Digital Receiver
Review of Denon AVR-2800 by
BruceH
Advantages: On screen setup, great sound
Disadvantages: Cluttered remote
Looking for a quality AV receiver, you've found it!!!
Features
--------
Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS support
S-video switching
Loads of audio inputs
Optical and Coax digital inputs
On screen setup
Quality
-------
From the moment you plug in this receiver you'll be amazed. You plug it into your TV and you can lay out your speaker set up on screen, balance the levels, direct the bass to the Sub etc.
The sound will blow you away.
As EX and ... ...good enough for most homes and this amp is the business.
Available in black and champagne finish.
Disadvantages
-------------
The remote is a little cluttered and difficult to use in the dark. Some buttons do glow and it is a learning remote but I think it could be improved.
NB: This amp has been discontinued and replace by the almost identical AVR-2801. ...

Pioneer VSX-AX5i Multi-Channel amp
Review of Pioneer VSX-AX5i Multi-Channel Stereophonic A/V Receiver by
stevesreviews
Advantages: HUGE SOUND EASY SET UP
Disadvantages: NEIGHBOURS MAY GO OFF YOU
I have owned this A/V receiver for last 2 years and never had a single problem. Prior to this amp i had experianced various cheaper amps but none could come close to the sound this baby produces.Ok it only puts out 100watts per channel but this is more than most rooms can handle unless you live in a night club. It also has 7 speaker outputs where you can use it for DTS.ES or Dolby digital 5.1EX alternatively you can use the surround back channels ... ...you will need to.The remote is a work of art to allowing you to use it for all your other appliances ie, cd player , tape deck, TV, DVD player, it works everything i have tried. It even has USB input for other devices. The amp does weigh just under 20kg so take care on glass shelves etc.The spec is available on various web sites so i will spare you all that geeky stuff. My advice to you is to search the net if you are thinking of buying one i paid ...
