...this hooked up to my Samsung 556, the DVD player has 1080p upscaling which produces an image to rival that of most blue ray players! It also has samsungs new automatic link up function which means only one controller is needed, when you turn the DVD player on, the tv automatically switches on and goes to the correct channel, although i believe you need a HDMI cable for this, although these arent too expensive if you browse, a £25 one from amazon/play ... i have had this Home Cinema DVD player for over a year now and as far as i can tell there have been absolutely no problems with it. excellent all round DVD player, and has USB and DivX support which is brilliant as i watch a lot of films from my memory stick.
