Don't buy this if you want true surround sound
Review of Pioneer DCS-370 by
pksmith
Advantages: Ok for DVD surround
Disadvantages: No TV surround. No digital optical cable.
Pioneer have really let the side down with this model. It is not capable of converting TV sounds sources to Pro Logic surround sound!! The best you get is stereo from the front two speakers via a RF cable. It doesn't even have a digital optical cable! What a let down! As a DVD player it does what I expect it to but the reason people buy these systems is for full surround, including the ability to convert TV sound to surround. Not worth the money ...

Signs & Wonders
Review of Samsung HT-TX 35 R by
sghawken
Advantages: Fantastic sound quality
Disadvantages: None
...house was slowly become a Samsung house I felt that they had to be the brand to supply me with my new equipment.
The new move wore me out and I spent a week trying to plug up the courage to install my new system, if you have ever installed one of these or even a stereo with separate speakers its not necessarily a difficult job, but its incredibly fiddly and time consuming. My last Cinema sound system which I bought about 6 years ago was a right ... ...It's by far my best Samsung purchase to date (or win come to that) and proves that these Cinema Sound systems have come on leaps and bounds since their first appearance in homes in 1994. If you consider yourself a film enthusiast then there can be no other set up for you. And for the record the new version of Blade Runner sounds absolutely amazing, and goes down in my books as being the best sounding movie I have yet to encounter. ...

Panasonic sc pt450 WOW WOW WOW
Review of Panasonic SC PT450 by
liamwhitney
Advantages: Superior power (1000watts), stylish, HDMI upscaling, AV inputs
Disadvantages: None
...decided to go for the Panasonic to my delight I rushed home to try it out and I was disapointed with my choice as I had to return it the next day due to it being faulty. I was discouraged from getting the same model, however after speaking to a member of staff in curry's he played all the systems I was interested in and to say the least the Panasonic stood out imensly.
The sound quality was by far superior to all the rest in this price bracket even ... ...600 so on power the panasonic by far The very helpful man in currys played a dvd through them all and again the Panasonic stood out for the sharpest picture through the impressive 1080i HDMI upscaling feature, this system also has av inputs so you can watch your Sky/Virgin tv and play the sound in Surround sound even the Sony doesnt do this, the phillips does BUT can you really sacrafice a massive 400watt power loss by not having the panasonic

Stunning Sony System!
Review of Sony DAV-DZ 630 by
mikeyhart_89
Advantages: Great sound and value for money
Disadvantages: Could only find in black
...this DAV-DZ630 this one from Sony mostly becuase of the price and the fact it has theatre sync which i can use with my song bravia lcd tv
I have a extremely odd shaped living room but the auto calibration facility (it comes with a supplied micro) has produced very satisfactory results better than i ever imagined, the sound even reaches the furthermost regions of the room. The Front Left/Right and Surround(Rear) Left/Right speakers are a fair size, ...

Excellent Quality low price all in one system
Review of Sony DAV-DZ 231 by
mike.portsmouth
Advantages: HDMI, easy set up with calibration microphone
Disadvantages: no divx but otherwise perfect
...- designed to complement the sony Bravia TVs (which I have!)
The unit was really easy to set up, just follow the on screen wizard, and it comes with a microphone for calibrating the speakers, which was fun.
The sound quality is excellent on DVDs, CDs and normal TV, and the picture quality on scart and HDMI is superb, the home theatre sync is a nice touch and complements the smart remote control. It is a shame that the european model does not support ...
