The all round for surround sound!
Review of Technics SC-DV 290 by thebigc1690

Advantages: Many features to enhance sound. Performs well and looks good.
Disadvantages: Perhaps a bit dated these days.

...review on it. The Technics SCDV290 set me back nearly £300 a few years back but I see it can now be purchased for the much more modest sum of £179.99. This system comes in four stacking parts consisting of the tuner, the tape decks (which are pretty much redundant these days), the 5xdvd player and the Dolby 5.1 amplifier. The system comes with a very simple to understand installation and users guide which makes it very easy to install. The system ...
...you years of good sound. Technics is a well respected brand and when it comes to surround sound systems they certainly know their stuff. Although my new system is Sony I would certainly consider Technics again when choosing another. The Technics SCDV290 is slightly harder to find these days although they can be found both new and second hand on EBay. I hope you are suitably enlightened on the subject and you enjoyed the read! © thebigc1690 ... Read review

The Sony MHC-RV800 D
Review of Sony MHC-RV 800 D by chrisxcore

Advantages: Massive Sound, DVD Surround, Good Quality Construction
Disadvantages: Speaker Distortion, Problems With Surround Sound.

Wow. This is kinda stretching my memory slightly, as I have had this sound system for a few years now, but I never realised it was MHC-RV800 D. I always thought is was 8000 (eight thousand)! Strange things we do find out. Aaanyway. I bought this system a few years ago as a sound system and CD player rather than a home cinema system, and so I know far more about its sound that its picture qualities, although I have played a few films on it. I purchased ...
...same day. The system comes in two boxes, one with the main control unit and the surround speakers in, and the other with the Left / Right front speakers and the subwoofer. Let me tell you, the box with the main control bit in is HEAVY. So take care on your way home with it, or while loading or unloading it from the car. Also in the box is a remote control, and three or four instruction manuals, each containing the instructions in a different trio ... Read review

Simply the best!!
Review of Panasonic SCDV290 by emilne82

Advantages: Excellent System, more features than you will ever need.
Disadvantages: No microphone sockets.

...comes with a pair of Panasonic batteries ready to install. The buttons are a good size but perhaps grouped a little to close together. The layout is logical and most of the features of the system can be access via the remote controls. The system can be as easy or as complicated to use as you make it. It can be a simple case of switching it on and inserting a DVD, to a complex matter to selecting seating positions and playing around the dubbing settings ...
...from the sold bass thumping to the high pitch tweeters. The surround is brilliant, on more than one occasion I have turned around expecting to see some one standing behind me. In terms of sound out put the main two speakers at the front can punt out 600watts between them. The surround speakers are rated at 75w each. The graphic equaliser has several pre-sets and a can be configured to a number of manual ones. However I would recommend using the presets. ... Read review

Disgusted
Review of Aiwa BMZ-K 7 by leanne541

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: EVERYTHING

...nearly £500 pounds on a Aiwa Hifi system beliveing it was a good make and a good Hifi system. Maybe it could have been justified if i had the stupid thing longer than 1 year!, but i only had it for 7 months. The Hifi will not play any CDs at all, things switch themselves on without pressing anything. My brothers brand new VCR broke without cause he had that vcr for just over a year. My friend in college bought a broand new aiwa minidisc and that ... Read review
