Quality:Price - Too BIG Difference!
Review of Sony DAV-DZ 230 by S4MMY_74

Advantages: Fanatical quality, Superb value
Disadvantages: Not Multi-Region

...purpose of watchingthem on my SONY home cinema system. This product has HD upscaling which means, it will upscale the quality of picture to suit your tv, and goes up to 1080i, works fantastically with HDTV's! I would not fault this product and would recommend this to anyone who loves films. It is also compatible to play what is coming out of the tv, which means sports, entertainment, sky, gaming consoles. Four speakers, a sub and a centre piece is ... Read review

Who says you only get what you pay for !
Review of Philips HTS 3154 by yrrab

Advantages: Multi featured CD, DVD, USB, MP3 TV SURROUND SOUND
Disadvantages: Not wireless!

This is an amazing bargain. I was replacing an old hifi but thought I would get a surround sound system. Not only does it play cd's and dvd's but will play from an MP3 player or a memory card (using a reader) via usb or from a headphone socket on an MP3 player. I was diappointed when I tried to play from my laptop via a usb bluetooth dongle , but it came up 'unsupported' Ah well , you can't have everything. It also can give surround sound for whatever ...
...HTS 3100 was recommended in 'Which' magazine and for the features and price I would imagine this one will be. I haven't yet hidden the cables, its my next job! I paid £94 at amazon. I highly recommend this for the cost and features. It sounds pretty good to me. NB: I have found out since I wrote the review that this is recommended by Which online. ... Read review

Goodmans 1990 DVDF
Review of Goodmans 1990DVD by markybaby76

Advantages: Cheap, Built In Freeview, Small, Compact, Pleasing to the eye
Disadvantages: Poor Sound quality, No Dolby Pro Logic, getts hot

I purchased this based on price. Big mistake! While it does have alot of features including Freeview, the sound quality is awful if you connect all the speakers. Basically if you connect the subwoofer it creates a buzzing sound that is very intrusive ant any volume, even if you press mute on the remote the subwoofer buzzes away. The remedy for this I found was to disconnect the subwoofer and change the sound settings to joint stereo, but then you ...
...that it has a place in the home as an economy 5.1 home entertainment system. It has Freeview, CD/DVD with Jpeg and MP3 support, plays DIVX Files, FM/MW radio, optical output and AUX in. But it appears that price matters when you but audio equipment, but on a plus note it plays DIVX and I have only just discovered this so I have rerated the product based on this feature as I see it as a majour plus. ... Panasonic SC-HT340
Review of Panasonic SC-HT 340 by MattUtd

Advantages: Great Value for a Brand Name
Disadvantages: No infra-red speakers

This is a great entry level home cinema system for less than £150. I bought this about 12 months ago from Richer Sounds during one of their sales. It's very easy to install as all the wires are colour coded so even a novice will understand what to do. The instructions are pretty self-explanatory so within 30 minutes you should have it ready to go. The only down-side with non infra-red systems like this is the fact there's lots of wires. You've basically ...
...to the DVD player. As you can imagine the amount of wire behind your TV will build up. The picture quality is pretty good and the sound is more than enough to fill a standard size living room. Other benefits include the built-in FM/AM radio but it's not DAB. You can also play CDs in this system which makes it a great alternative to your Hi-Fi. The remote control allows you to adjust a range of options including sound and picture quality. For those ... Read review
