Although my new system is Sony I would certainly consider Technics again when choosing another. The Technics SCDV290 is slightly harder to find these days although they can be found both new and second hand on EBay. Its perfect for an apartment type housing. Personaly i thnk the sub woofer is a little weak. The DVD player plays just about all the formats such as SVCD, MPEG, AVI and DIVX. One of the cool feature it had is the Ipod dock system. You can listen to your ipod and even watch movies from it, if you have a video Ipod.
