The all round for surround sound!
Review of Technics SC-DV 290 by
thebigc1690
Advantages: Many features to enhance sound. Performs well and looks good.
Disadvantages: Perhaps a bit dated these days.
...review on it.
The Technics SCDV290 set me back nearly £300 a few years back but I see it can now be purchased for the much more modest sum of £179.99. This system comes in four stacking parts consisting of the tuner, the tape decks (which are pretty much redundant these days), the 5xdvd player and the Dolby 5.1 amplifier.
The system comes with a very simple to understand installation and users guide which makes it very easy to install. The system ... ...you years of good sound. Technics is a well respected brand and when it comes to surround sound systems they certainly know their stuff. Although my new system is Sony I would certainly consider Technics again when choosing another. The Technics SCDV290 is slightly harder to find these days although they can be found both new and second hand on EBay.
I hope you are suitably enlightened on the subject and you enjoyed the read!

Simply the best!!
Review of Panasonic SCDV290 by
emilne82
Advantages: Excellent System, more features than you will ever need.
Disadvantages: No microphone sockets.
...comes with a pair of Panasonic batteries ready to install. The buttons are a good size but perhaps grouped a little to close together. The layout is logical and most of the features of the system can be access via the remote controls.
The system can be as easy or as complicated to use as you make it. It can be a simple case of switching it on and inserting a DVD, to a complex matter to selecting seating positions and playing around the dubbing settings
... ...from the sold bass thumping to the high pitch tweeters. The surround is brilliant, on more than one occasion I have turned around expecting to see some one standing behind me. In terms of sound out put the main two speakers at the front can punt out 600watts between them. The surround speakers are rated at 75w each. The graphic equaliser has several pre-sets and a can be configured to a number of manual ones. However I would recommend using the presets. ...

Bose 321 GS
Review of Bose 321 GS by
walshy747
Advantages: Sleek Elegant Design, Top quality sound, Includes DVD and Radio into one compact box.
Disadvantages: You can get distorted sound on the radio.
The Bose 321 Gs is a stunning product. Just at a glance the sleek design of the product hits you straight in the face and pulls you in. The design and the colors are just beautiful and just screams to you buy me. If you like the smooth elegant design then this is indefinably the product for you.
The actually product also follows on from the excellent design work. The product consists of 2 speakers and a Subwoofer. It also has a DVD player and a ... ...lack of wires. The bose system consists of only 3 wires connecting the system together and your ready to go.
Overall although bose is either a love or hate product i can defiantly say that maybe the price is a bit to expensive but i do recommend this product. ...

Good sorround system for cheap proce
Review of Philips HTS 3357 by
maximaracer_95
Advantages: Uses pro logic surround, user freindly
Disadvantages: weak sub woofer.
Its perfect for an apartment type housing. Personaly i thnk the sub woofer is a little weak. The DVD player plays just about all the formats such as SVCD, MPEG, AVI and DIVX. One of the cool feature it had is the Ipod dock system. You can listen to your ipod and even watch movies from it, if you have a video Ipod. Just connect the AV connection to the dock and ready to watch. It will work with any type of Ipode or even Zune because it had the adapters ...

DTS and DivX for under £100? Buy it!
Review of Philips HTS 3100 by
cactuscake
Advantages: DTS, Dolby 5.1, Dolby Pro Logic II, DivX playback
Disadvantages: No SPDIF inputs/outputs
...sound and theater system from Philips an offers excellent value for money.
I was attracted to this model as it offered DivX playback as well as DTS surround sound (not two things you're likely to see on the same disc but both come with their own merits). The DTS sound is amazing, I spent several minutes just switching 5.1 sound and DTS just to hear the difference.
It also plays Dolby Pro Logic II from freeview broadcasts and includes a very clean ... ...and well insulated so they don't get damaged if stepped on. The only complaint I have is that they didn't include 5.1 channel inputs as well as outputs, I would have preferred a system with SPDIF input so I could attach my laptop for surround sound but it only has stereo inputs.
The design is sleek and the display is bright and clear even through a glass cabinet. ...
