Its perfect for an apartment type housing. Personaly i thnk the sub woofer is a little weak. The DVD player plays just about all the formats such as SVCD, MPEG, AVI and DIVX. This is an amazing bargain. I was replacing an old hifi but thought I would get a surround sound system. Not only does it play cd's and dvd's but will play from an MP3 player or a memory card (using a reader) via usb or from a headphone socket on an MP3 player. I purchased this based on price. Big mistake! While it does have alot of features including Freeview, the sound quality is awful if you connect all the speakers. Basically if you connect the subwoofer it creates a buzzing sound that is very intrusive ant any volume, even if you press mute on the remote the subwoofer buzzes away.
