Philips HTS3154 DVD Home Theatre System Advantages: USB and DivX playback support Disadvantages: Doesn't support U3 or very large hard drives i have had this Home Cinema DVD player for over a year now and as far as i can tell there have been absolutely no problems with it. excellent all round DVD player, and has USB and DivX support which is brilliant as i watch a lot of films from my memory stick. One bad thing about the USB is that it doesn't support very large hard drives and U3 drives - anything which you need specific drivers for. One feature i found really good was that it remembers where you were last in your DVD, and that has come in very handy as I am always having to go and do something else. Sony DAV-IS 10 Advantages: quality, crisp sound, great looks, can easily hide away Disadvantages: power output is quite low, needs more mid range I bought the sony satelite system about 8 months ago. I did have a sony 5.1 system before but decided to change it as i had just bought a new plasma and wanted a surround system to compliment the looks of the plasma mainly (my tv's piano black as is the dav subwoofer). I knew the quality of the dav-is 10 was there but when i tested it i thought the power output was quite low but at the price it was the best option for the subtle, cosmetically smart ... ...- especially with the skinny sony stands you can buy (70 pounds for the pair - well worth it). The subwoofer is the main output here. The bass and mid all come from this and to be fair it gives out a lot if you take into account that the 5 satelites give pure treble and no bass at all. To really here the system at full potential you need to put the volume on near enough full sound - but i feel that this doesn't balance out properly. Good sorround system for cheap proce Advantages: Uses pro logic surround, user freindly Disadvantages: weak sub woofer. Its perfect for an apartment type housing. Personaly i thnk the sub woofer is a little weak. The DVD player plays just about all the formats such as SVCD, MPEG, AVI and DIVX. One of the cool feature it had is the Ipod dock system. You can listen to your ipod and even watch movies from it, if you have a video Ipod. Just connect the AV connection to the dock and ready to watch.
