Comet - Not good if something goes wrong
Advantages: You can take the item away with you when you buy, they price match local retailers Disadvantages: returning faulty items is very difficult, very contradictory head office phone advise
I bought a tv from Comet a couple of weeks ago, and left it in its packaging for a couple of days, whilst I was selling my previous tv.
After I'd set up the new tv, all seemed fine, until I started to get an intermitant flickering picture with HDMI sources. I first went into Comet to ask what the prodedure for returning it was, and was told that either an engineer could come to my house and test it, or that I could return the tv to the store, where ... ...be faulty, the tv would be written off, and a replacement or refund could be issued.
I took the tv back to the store (18 miles away from where I live), and was then told by a lady at the customer service desk that they would have to get an engineer out to the store, and that the soonest he/she would be able to come was 4 days later. I asked to speak to the manager, and he very smugly recited the company's policy on returning tvs. I agreed to have ...

Not a good experience
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Non existant customer service
We bought a washing machine online from Currys and paid for them to fit the new one and remove the old one. When they delivered the new washing machine, they said they could not install it as the old one was hard wired. When I said I could remove the old electrical connection (a 1 minute job), they said they could still not install the new one, as they "are not electricians". Not a problem, as it is an easy job. The major issue, though, was they ... ...as "there was not room in the van" (in spite of them having just delivered a new washing machine of the same size from the same van). When my wife phoned to arrange for the old machine to be removed (after many attempts to speak to someone, and being passed from one department to another), Currys said the delivery people did not remove the old machine as it was not ready to be removed, and there was now nothing they can do. B & don't Q
Advantages: easy to use Disadvantages: no price match guarantee online
This website is really well laid out and is very useful if you're a busy person and need info quick. The special offers section is particually good and the pictures are big enough and clear enough to make sure you're buying the right thing without seeing it. B&Qs price match promise is great. No only will they refund the difference but they'll also give you 10% extra. The only problem is that this doesn't apply online so watch out.
The learning ... ...tasks such as ... fitting kitchens, tiling and plastering - just print off and away you go.
Great website if you need opening times, nearest branch, contact details ect. Vey easy to navigate. Layout
Couldn't fail to forget it was B&Q - simple but effective

Inferior goods, bad customer service.
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Inferior goods that rust and break. Hardly appropriate for bathroom fittings.
Having purchased a bath, shower, shower screen, two taps and shower attachment, I had nothing but problems with this company.
The basin tap was scratched, and initially, they replaced it free of charge, not bothering to collect the old one.
When my shower was to be fitted, I found a part missing.
After many fruitless phone calls, and having to keep my plumber on hold for quite a while, it eventually arrived.
I had to pay for each phone call to ... ...though I had the name of the recipient of the call. It was extremely hard work.
Less than two years after fitting, I found that the waste mechanism in the hand basin was so badly rusted through that it was about to rot away completely.
I mailed the company and again, and their response was that as I'd had it over a year, I would have to buy a new tap. They 'helpfully' informed me that it was on sale for £49.00.
Why would I purchase another tap ...

HOW DISSAPOINTING!!!!

...extremely excited to here that hobbycraft was opening up locally and waited in aticipation for it to open and i was nothing but DISSAPOINTED with the place. The front of the shop was taken up by sweet and xmas trees, where is the craft in that. I find hobbycraft very over priced and the level of service is nowhere near as good as you get in little craft stores. I visit a craft store in middlesbrough and the staff are extremely helpful. I pay just ... ...double that at 97p each which is a disgrace. although hobbycraft is big, it is also a big con. i stick by my small craft shops anyday. you will also find them much more accomadating at getting stock in for you where large stores cannot and will not do that. ...
