What is covered with this HomeCare package?
Advantages: Cheap monthly cover, arrived on time Disadvantages: Not recognising problem, excessive cost of repairs, poor complaints procedures
I signed up as I was having difficulty with my boiler and thought it would be an effective way of getting it sorted. Here's a catalogue of the visits I eventually had:
1st call out: Paid £50 call out fee upfront (which I wasn't informed about when signed up and made that clear!) and if the repair could be done it would not be charged to my account. Engineer came round and diagnosed the problem but couldn't fix it so had to put parts on order.
2nd ... ...of repair as it wasn't done on the 1st visit.
3rd/4th call out: Recurring problem so had to call them out again within a couple of weeks. Told them I wasn't paying the £50 up front fee as the problem wasn't resolved and was initially refused an engineer. Called again and spoke to supervisor who overruled that, sent engineer round "free of charge". When engineer came out, was told that the boiler was "knackered" and needed to get a quote for a new ...

...was to claim on our Halifax home insurance policy because of the amount of damage caused. We rang up the next day and a week later someone came out to have a look. The loss adjuster was extremely rude and basically she told me half the things you have claimed for are just slightly wet, they will dry out eventually. In regards to both the floors and walls they will sort it out. Few days later someone came to have a look at the rest of the damage, ... ...Now the claim has proceeded, Halifax are trying to rip me off, The carpet in the dining room is costing approximately £1800 halifax said their liability on that is only £539.72, and that is if i have it fitted by carpet right the rest i have to pay for. This is because wear and tear has been taken into account and that is what my carpet was worth if i were to have sold it!! This is absolutely ridiculous, it clearly states in their policy that they ...

...caravan holiday insurance cover from Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance plc.
The company provides extensive cover for all sorts of holiday homes and personal needs.
I first heard of this company when the insurance on my caravan was due for renewal. When I first purchased my caravan, the site owners had recommended a company and we had taken out insurance with them the previous year for £213.96. This company had sent us a renewal quote of £254.16. ... ...caravan park telling us of Leisuredays. Before I could do anything I was contacted by Leisuredays to tell me about the services they could offer and gave me a quote of £134.75. Obviously a lot cheaper!
They then sent me a brochure outlining all that we had discussed on the phone as to what they could offer - briefly it offers:-
Great value for money, including extensive "all risks" cover all year round
Replacement with new option for holiday homes ...

Home Contents Cover - How Customer Service SHOULD be...
Advantages: Value for money, excellent cover and speedy, courteous service. Disadvantages: Compensation is paid is in form of gift cards to specific retailers. Cash would be more flexible.
BACKGROUND As a Direct Line (DL) car insurance customer, I was offered the opportunity to take out home contents cover at a special 25% discount for existing customers. Having been with Norwich Union (now Aviva) for a while and experiencing ambivalent service when I needed them, I decided to go for it. Norwich Union may have “quoted me happy” when I first took out cover, but their renewal premium (I had made no claims at he time) left me cold ... ...haven’t looked back since. HOME CONTENTS POINTERS Here are a few tips for the uninitiated on home contents cover. Often people base their purchasing decision solely on the premium, but is vital to compare like for like when trying to decide between potential providers. Look at the small print and make sure that the features you want (such as cover away from the home, bicycle cover, the amount of excess, contents of fridge and freezer, legal ...
