Want to cut your water bill?
Advantages: Easy to fit,Saves money Disadvantages: None
...bag
I purchased this Hippo water saver due to reading a review by Sweet daisy on Dooyoo about them. She stated they were available from some water boards or various websites but I purchased mine off eBay for £1 with free postage and packaging. I have purchased a few items I have read reviews on but for once this is an item that will actually save me money What is a hippo bag?
It is a thick plastic cube shaped bag that fits in the toilet ... ...How does it work?
Simply open out the bag and fit it under the system ball. Pour in a 4 litres of water in the bag as you flush the toilet. From this point on each time you flush you will save a litre of water. My experience.
I was very excited when my bag arrived and opened it out and read all the instructions and took it upstairs to the bathroom and that is where it sat as I didn't have a jug upstairs and thought I would take one ...

Shower using less water
Advantages: Saves water Disadvantages: You do lose some 'power' in the shower
...a National paper for an Ecocamel shower head. Well to be honest I had seen one a few months ago and not done anything about it but this time it was being sold at a reduced price so that aroused my interest again.
What is it?
Basically it is a showerhead that mixes water with air to give an invigorating shower using less water than a traditional shower head. Now I have been using the Lakeland Tapadaptor for years on my kitchen sink so I am familiar ... ...I planned to use the Ecocamel to replace my existing variable showerhead so the first thing that was evident is that with the new showerhead there is just one spray setting so you cannot adjust the spray pattern with this basic model. The manufacturers make a number of claims about what happens when the spray is created which are:
"Conventional non aerated showers and flow restricted handsets produce a flow of water that bounces off your body. More ...

Save water and save money
Advantages: Easy to follow video Disadvantages: You need a battery operated drill
...I found out about the Interflush water saving device and wanted to know more.
About the device
My first port of call was their web site www.interflush.co.uk where I was able to read all about it and, more importantly, watch a video showing exactly what you need to do it install it.
The device is a simple little kit which you fit on top of your WC siphon which is closed when the handle is held down and open when the handle is up. That means ... ...start and you can stop it by just releasing the handle. Effectively that means you use just the water you need to clear the pan and can stop the flush by letting the handle go. You are then able to use just the water you need and no more so that no water is wasted at all. The manufacturers claim that it saves half the flushing water and 20% more than a dual flush system saves.
So with that information and having watched the video through a couple ...

A turbine that blows
Advantages: Cheap, Reliable and looks cool Disadvantages: possibility of theft
I found this product very easy to set up and is still working perfect after 3 months, I will purchase another one for my mobile home when I've saved up again. It took me 2 hours to correctly erect and wire but it was as easy as connecting a dvd player to a tv. There are other products out there that a similar but I think this one was the easiest to use. I live lose to the sea and am lucky to have wind 24/7, when I buy another one I will put it beside ... ...I will let ye know how I get on with it when I have bought it and got it working. If I could afford a bigger wind turbine I would buy it but I have a lot of knowledge on wind energy and I think its best to start small and work up. ...

A simple security light for the garden
Advantages: It costs nothing to run Disadvantages: It isn't very bright but it is adequate
...and I settled for the Smart Solar Powered Duo Security light which has two lights that swivel and which contain a total of 10 LEDs as I thought that would give me a reasonable light and a few direction options once fitted.
Design Features
The light duly arrived and although it is made of black plastic it seemed sturdy enough. The lights are hinged in the middle so that you can, if you wish, fix it to the corner of a building and have the lights ... ...log cabins have planks that overlap at the corners but I found it easy to fit to the centre at the front just under the canopy and the swivel lights were easy to position to spread the light to the area in front of the cabin.
The movement sensor is centrally fitted and has limited movement options if you fix the light flat as I had done but if you fix it on a corner you can angle it as you wish. It rotates on the horizintal and the vertical so the ...
