It's come to that time of year again when the renewal of the house insurance comes round . Lets be honest I'm sure there are many of us that are out there and look at the premium and don't do anything about reducng the cost. The price seems quite reasonable so we usally just stick with it.

This is a letter I have sent to the Insurance Chumps today, if you read it (I warn you it is extremely long!!) then you will know why. I have had home insurance via the AA for 3 years and will continue with them for the forseeable future. They proved their value a couple of months ago when I was trying to re-mortgage and re-insure my home. The new mortgage company wanted my old insurer to write to them (and to the new insurer) stating that they knew all about a subsidence problem that my property doesn't have - not an easy task.
After several days and many phone calls to the mortgage company and both the insurers I'd almost given up; I called the AA as a last resort as they'd organised both insurance policies. I didn't expect them to do anything and was stunned by what happened next - they asked me for the contact details for the other companies and then proceeded to sort everything out within half a day.
