Full review
There are times when it is not appropriate to use a full size vacuum cleaner around the house. What you do in those cases is get yourself a smaller hand held rechargeable model.

This HT808 is just such a model.

My wife has recently started to help with the care of an elderly man (not me) He has recently been bereaved and now does not move around much. He has a full size cleaner but there are times when this is just not appropriate.

The hand held cordless is very useful for working around a cluttered room where every object can bring back memories and you do not want to disturb the occupant.

This unit is also very hand around the house for those little DIY jobs. Getting the full size unit into some of the places where you have to try to work can be a right pain in the lower back.

Let me give you some tech bits.
The unit weighs 2 Lbs
The base weighs 14 Oz
The height from base to mouth is 12"
width over handle is 7"
width of base is 5"

So you can see that it is not very large or heavy.

It is supplied with a 7.2 volt nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery type. The unit comes with the battery uncharged and it is recommended that the battery be charged first for 16-20 hrs for first charge. The instruction book recommends that you fully charge the unit, use it until totally discharged and then fully recharge for maximum effective use.

The base unit contains the transformer and docking collar/ recharge apparatus. This has a short length of flex and 13 amp plug fitted as standard. It is advised that you do not use extension cord. The power requirement is for the standard domestic 230v-50Hz supply

The body contains the motor section which appeared to be quite powerful. The short flex could well prove an advantage as the unit will fit comfortably on a flat top work surface but cannot be placed near the front to attract the attention of any small child. Nor does it appear to want to easily tip over as the weight is all in the lower section.

The base is large flat and round and will not easily tip over. The body of the cleaner is cylindrical with the motor and battery unit in place, The top is tapering to a mouth rather reminiscent of some toothless fish's mouth, like a lamprey. The handle is attached on the cylindrical section and is capable of being rotated 180 degrees. The crevice tool is also stored in the handle. The body has a LED light to show when it is on charge and a button to release the dust cup top section. The on/off switch is located on the handle. The led light will come on during operation when the battery charge is running low indicating that a recharge is required.

Inside the upper section dust cup is a filter unit. This can be removed for cleaning. It is recommended that the filter be washed in cold water and not replace until fully dry. The instruction booklet does warn against trying to draw up liquids.

The instruction booklet advises that the filter be changed every three months. There is also a section advising on the disposal of the battery so I am assuming that these items can be obtained as spare parts. There are no maintenance instructions for the motor, so presumably if that fails, then the whole unit may be replaced. I have found the company home page but spare parts are not listed. Presumably you would obtain these through your seller.

In operation the cleaner does produce quite a high pitched noise similar to an electric drill. That is hardly surprising as the motor/fan has to move considerable air to get a good suction to do a good cleaning job. And it does do a good job.

I have not had the unit long enough to check battery life, though the machine does come with a years guarantee.

This unit was purchased through a local hardwear/ironmonger shop and cost £17.99
I would have liked some LED light, possibly a different colour to indicate when the battery has reached a full charge; this is the only drawback that I have found to date. You may want to start cleaning and then find you have to recharge in the middle of the job.

All in all I can recommend this to any potential buyer.
