It’s smooth, looks oh so good and keeping it clean makes it look like Mary Poppins has been in your house. On top of all that you can proudly share your achievement with whoever enters your home and watch their admiration at your abilities as a DIY expert.
What on earth is this woman waffling on about now l hear you mutter. Well with times changing and everyone wanting to live in cleaner houses without the horrible thought that dust mites and other nasties are lurking in our carpets what could be more sensible than laminated flooring!
This wonderful stuff can be purchased from all good DIY stores. l found that Homebase gave the best deals where we live, as now and then they give wonderful discounts, which if you intend to do your whole house can be a real bargain.

Now depending on what you are looking for, laminated flooring comes in a variety of shades e.g. oak, beech, pine and other colours depending where you wish to put them. You can have the more expensive clip together boards. These wonderful boards can be taken apart again without the fear of breaking them. This is a bit of a puzzle to me as why would you want to dismantle your hard work once it is all laid down. Anyway if you don’t want to tear your work apart the other types are more permanent and require glue.
Before you start on becoming a DIY genius make sure that
1: you have all the equipment that you need to lay down the flooring.
2: you have enough laminated floorboards to complete the project.
3:you have underlay for floorboards and if the floor is concreted you will need
damp course membrane.
4:and of course glue.
After this is complete, remove any old carpet, furniture, children, animals and anyone who wishes to stand around giving you verbal instructions. Make sure that the floor is free from dirt and the floor is as level as possible. Depending on the shape of the room the laying down of the floor is very easy but you might have to cut some of the boards so that they fit into any awkward spaces. You also have to make sure that you don’t walk on the flooring for at least 24 hrs so they don’t come apart. After that step back admire your work and welcome to a fresher, easier to clean living area.

The advantages of the laminated flooring is as long as you take reasonable care, they are scratch resistant, don’t stain (wipe up liquid as soon as possible) and can be vacuumed or swept And as my heading suggests children are more than happy to be available at short notice to polish it with themselves in a unique spinning motion:)
Just make sure that after you have chosen a gorgeous rug protect yourself from slipping by getting rug tape that prevents your rug from becoming a surfboard.
