Homebase Pescara Revive Charcoal BBQ

Advantages: No mess, no more lighter fluid, easy to use
Disadvantages: a bit dearer than normal charcoal but well worth it.

...I tried a gas bbq for a couple of years on the advice of a few people I know saying that they didn't taste any different than a proper bbq, and I suppose they don't really taste that different and they are certainly much easier and cleaner to set up and use. However about a year ago we decided to knock the kitchen and dining room together and this resulted in a huge pile of bricks. I had always fancied a brick bbq and decided to set about building one with the bricks that I had, this obviously then resulted in the gas bbq getting tipped and we were back to the mess of charcoal and fire lighters again - untill I discovered Homebase instant lighting charcoal. Getting Dirty I suppose the main problem with a traditional bbq is the fact that when you come to set it up ready to light, you have to start stacking charcoal up... Read review

Advantages: VERSATILE AND CAN OVEN COOK
Disadvantages: nothing that a glove couldn't fix...... Charcoal is dirty

Unlike most, the Weber can also be used as a conventional oven all year round to cook Roast joints of meat, roast potatoes, vegetables, stews, casseroles, chili and the list is endless. One takes 17 (do not ask me why 17 but it seems to work well) pieces of charcoal, place either side of the grill pan and light. Place what it is you wish to cook in an oven proofed with lid vessel, place in the center of the BBQ and close the lid and leave to cook for a couple of hours. One would say but Ughh Sunday roast tasting like charcoal but that’s not the case at all. By using an oven roasting pan with a lid, all Smokey flavors are eliminated. Advantages: Easy Lighting
Disadvantages: More Expensive Than Normal Charcoal

...Instant Lighting Charcoal is much better than normal charcoal because it saves you time and infact money. The extra price you would spend with normal lumpwood charcoal, on firelighters, or gas to put on the B.B.Q. would easily be in excess of the price of instant lighting charcoal. All you need is one match, light the bag that the charcoal is in and that is it, the bag burns, slowly letting the charcoal fall out and the barbeque is ready in 20 minutes. After 10 minutes level the charcoal out bu shaking the barbeque my its handel. The amount of lovely barbeque smoke given off is the same, if not more, so you get more of that nice authenic barbeque taste.
