As my wife and I have a big garden we wanted to have lights in garden which provide some illumination at night. The solution to our problem was to buy some garden solar glow lights which I have seen before in other gardens. On a recent visit to Homebase I found soft glow solar garden lights which seemed to be a suitable product for my garden. These lights normally cost £5.99, but are currently on sale at £2.99 so I bought 12 of them.
These garden solar lights are silver coloured plastic and have an adjustable height of between 23 and 34cm. At the top of the lights is a circular box containing the section which emits the light. This section has a silver lid on the top with a black panel which collects the solar energy during daylight hours. The lights have an automatic dawn sensor and have batteries which last for 6 hours with a battery life of about 2 years. The lights have a spiked bottom to them to allow you to push them deep into the ground.
I found these solar lights easy to insert into the ground and adjust if required. I have discovered that it best to place the lights in an area of the garden which gets sufficient light otherwise they won’t charge up enough and therefore will not light up at night.
Although these lights are not powerful enough to allow you to sit in your garden and have parties at night, they are good enough to help guide you through your garden at night so that you won’t trip and fall over anything.
I think that these solar lights from Homebase are great value, especially if you buy them in the sale. They are easy to use, require no wires and provide much needed illumination to my garden. I recommend them to everyone.
