    Advantages Advantages Good rewards

Disadvantages Disadvantages Encourages you to spend more

The house we have just bought in Llandudno was a guesthouse before we bought it and it needs a fair bit of work doing to it to convert it back to living accommodation for mom and dad on the ground floor and Dave and I on the top two floors. For a start we needed to convert the guests dining room on the ground floor into an ensuite bedroom for mom and dad. We also needed to remove a partition wall in between two first floor bedrooms to rediscover the large room, which will be our lounge. I grant you we had to employ a team of builders, electricians and plumbers to do this – we are not DIY ... more

    Advantages Advantages Huge rewards

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes a while to reach top level

Homebase have been criticised numerous times over the past couple of years for being more expensive than B&Q, however this card is Homebase's secret weapon against that other dodgy D.I.Y. store and is one of the main reasons why most of Homebase's customers stay loyal to them. After initially being shocked that no-one else has written an opinion on this card i am now actually not suprised as the reward levels are a little more complicated than your average loyalty card but once you know what you get then it becomes an invaluble piece of plastic. So let me explain... First of all the amount of ... more

1 Star Quick review of Homebase Spend & Save by maureend 19/04/2007
I was in the Wandsworth store & found I had left my card at home. I was told to take the receipt into my local store & they would credit my card with my spend. I had spent approx. £58, not a great deal but I was glad to hear that I would be able to have my spending noted. I visited the store in Streatham and was told this could not be done & to ring the tel.number on the back of the card. This tel. number no longer works. I had been going to buy a Strimmer at Homebase ... more

Advantages Advantages More for your money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Graduated reward scheme

Homebase was one of the first to start with loyalty schemes and it has been going strong ever since. I remember the days when they would have 10% off as well as double points. It's not often that you see the two together now. However, over the years I have earned quite a lot for myself and have taken some of the points in Airmiles too. It's a simple system that gives you points per pound spent. Initially the percentage reward is lower then after reaching the bench mark the percentage increases. It is certainly a welcome site when the statement arrives and there are vouchers enclosed that can ... more

Advantages Advantages Money off vouchers, other discounts.

Disadvantages Disadvantages £750 earnings cap on single transactions

I signed up for a spend and save card knowing that I would be doing alot work on my new house. Yes the vouchers do add up and its great to get them through. BUT! be very careful, if you make a purchase over £750 you do not earn any extra vouchers. By that I mean all single purchases are capped at £750. I spent over £5000 on a new kitchen and got rewards for just £750 of that spend. I was told I should have been advised about this when I signed up. It appears not all the stores do this. A good idea might be to get large purchases broken down into different sales to come in under the capping ... more
