Review of Homeworld 2 (PC) by lostprophet

Advantages: Great gameplay, great graphics, great story
Disadvantages: Hard

...becomings, and they called it.... Homeworld 2 (ok, no marks for originality, but at least the game doesn't suck!) Story... Homeworld saw you take control of the reminants of an ancient civilization decimated by the conquerors and forced to inhabbit the far reaches of the galaxy. When an ancient tablet that revealed their true origins is discovered in the wreck or a destroyed ship, a great mothership is built and with the remains of the tribe on ...
...Homeworld 2 continues the epic struggle of the Hiigarans as they journey to the oldest regions of the galaxy to confront a renegade clan from the eastern fringes with the power of the ancients, and to discover the truth behind their exile. Gameplay... The object of the game is to build a vast amada with which to tackle the various missions set before you. As you progress through the levels, new skills and research must be utilised to reach your ... Read review

Time to go home
Review of Homeworld 2 (PC) by BenRowland

Advantages: Beautiful graphics, epic space combat
Disadvantages: Occasionally infuriating

...pilots to stations immediately." Homeworld 2 is the second part of the story of the Hiigaran people. Having completed a long and difficult journey back to their home-world in the first game, you would think life would be pretty good for them. They have their planet back, they are one of the most technologically advanced peoples in the galaxy, and they are at peace. But then comes the rise to power of a new threat, the Vaygr. The Vaygr are a ruthless ...
...of your own. Graphically, Homeworld 2 is stunning. If it weren't for the necessity of giving orders occasionally I would spend my entire time zoomed in on one of my fighters, ducking and diving amongst the bigger ships. All the models are sleek and impressive, combining style with an appearance of deadly menace. The sight of an entire fleet of your ships in elegant formation swooping on an enemy base is awesome to behold. Another impressive part ... Read review

Homeworld 2 - It wins.
Review of Homeworld 2 (PC) by LazersX

Advantages: Detailed textures, scale is realistic, fighting is fun, and the ships respond accordingly.
Disadvantages: The sound is tacky, and the learning curve is high.

Well, Homeworld 2. I start the game with mixed feelings, wondering about whether it really has improved over its predecessor, Homeworld. The game loads up quickly, and I'm presented with the menu screen, which looks modern, is responsive, and theres no loading time between menu options. Homeworld seems to be set to lowest graphics by default, but i want the full experience, 2 minutes alter and a quick restart, I'm looking at the quick battle screen, ...
...self as the race from Homeworld 1, the Hiigarans. I star the game without customizing my ships, but you can select badges, the colors of them, and stripe position. The game loads, remarkably quickly, and my mothership (Which looks like a giant armoured banana, but that's a good thing!) hyperspaces into view, along with a carrier. I select my carrier, and zoom in, and am amazed by the level of detail, and the sheer size of my mothership from this ... Read review

A true improvement on the original
Review of Homeworld 2 (PC) by Werrf

Advantages: Incredible graphics, wonderful flexibility
Disadvantages: Difficult, unengaging storyline, cumbersome controls

...the single player campaign of Homeworld 2. I have always preferred to play skirmish games. So, that said... Homeworld 2 is everything a sequel should be. It takes the units, concepts and design ethic of the original, and expands on them to create a whole new and distinct game. The biggest and most interesting change is in the control and customisation of the ships in the fleet. Cataclysm, what I think of as Homeworld 1.5, introduced the idea of ...
...The use of squadrons in Homeworld 2 has simplified this task enormously - instead of counting eighty individual tiny ships, you just have to count sixteen five-ship squads. Lost ships are replaced simply by sending the survivors in to dock, and the squadron is reinforced. The taskbar at the bottom of the screen provides a beautifully streamlined and detailed interface for the selection, control and monitoring of your units, and the use of a sidebar ... Read review

She's got coool hair...
Review of Homeworld 2 (PC) by Lythria_2005

Advantages: Lots..and lot's of hard work, but fun...how odes that work?!?!
Disadvantages: Not a lot of these, but not easy...

...go with the commercial view... Homeworld was an excellent game...combining fun with work...the fighter were realistic, and even had to be refulled...and the size of every ship was kept in proportion... Homeworld 2 built on this...it did however do one thing wrong...the things that made Homeworld so good, were the things that made it seem so real...such as the fact you had to refuel your fighters...but Homeworld 2 stripped this away...which...to ...
...same...the ship designs are similar, but different...and they have made a lot more kick a** weapons, such as nastier Battlecruisers, and more Frigates... The Hiigarans have an imensivley impressive array of ships...but my favourite has to be the Battke cruiser...with its four mounted ion cannons, and slug throwers...along with point defense lasers and the ability to dock fighters and build modules... The Vaygar fleet was most impressive...with ... Read review

Warhammer 40K in good PC game shocker!!!
Review of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War by  clownfoot

Advantages: Graphically superb, an original variation on the oft used RTS style of play, addictive, excellent gameplay, 40K on a PC
Disadvantages: Limited one-played value, lack of armies from 40K world

..., as is the rule of chance, such a poor run of form had to change, right? With a host of 40K gamers and PC Users hoping for a miracle, Relic Entertainment, the creators of Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game Homeworld 2, were given the helm of finally bring one of Games Workshop’s hugely successful fictional worlds to the computer screen. With the spangley new Dawn of War CD inserted into the PC, trepidation sets in. As the Relic logo appears on the screen, hands are clutched in the prayer position willing a miracle to happen before your eyes. And as the intro to the game begins, your jaw systematically hits the ground. The opening sequence is a marvel to behold – Imperial Dreadnaughts appear from smoke filled buildings and tear the ground up in front of them using the hefty assault cannons they’re wielding. An Imperial Predator explodes as Marines from... Read review
