The title of this review is a quote from my highly sceptical husband, whom I had rescued from a heatwave-induced headache that had him literally crying with pain, by giving him the homeopathic remedy, "Nux Vomica"!
However, let me start at the beginning of my experience with homeopathy, nearly 9 years ago now, when I was pregnant with our second son and suffering all day morning sickness that had me off work and unable to move round the house without ... ...I could throw my guts up every ten minutes. I got to the point where I was going to have to think about paying for help with our 2 year old and with cooking, cleaning etc, and that made me wonder if it was worth trying an expensive, alternative treatment. My mother in law had seen a homeopath about her arthritis, and while it wasn't cured completely, it had improved quite a lot.
So I looked through the Y P for a registered homeopath close to home ...

Advantages: Safe, effective, it works, no side effects Disadvantages: None
I suddenly realised, that after having written five ops on Homeopathic remedies (Aconite, Arnica, Belladonna, Chamomilla and Nux Vom) , that for a lot of people it is a great big leap of faith to be told about these "miracle cures". So what I would like to do here under "Homeopathy in General" is to give you all an insight in what Homeopathy is, and how you can use it.
** What is Homeopathy? **
Basically it a system of treatment of diseases and ... ...conventional medicine. It can be used on children, adults and animals. However by law in the UK only a vet can diagnose problems with animals. You can treat your own animals with homeopathy though. As a homeopath I could suggest what I might give my pet.
It works on the principle of "like cures like" that is if the remedy was given to a healthy person, it would produce certain symptoms. By matching the symptoms you are suffering to a remedy you ...

Advantages: Water is essentially harmless. Disadvantages: Homeopathy is very expensive water.
So, you've got a migrane. Or backache. Or arthritis. What would you say if you went to your doctor and they prescribed you water? You'd probably flip.
Yet, the self same people who complain are the ones who would probably also be taken in by homeopathy.
Homeopathy was created by Samuel Hahnemann, a German doctor. He proposed two laws. First of all: the law of similars. Most people understand this one. The law of similars states that if you find ... ...that causes those symptoms. Like cures like. This is fairly easy to believe. We've all taken vaccines, right? Vaccines are just very small doses of a disease, right? Wrong. Vaccines are modified versions of the antibody that cause the body's immune system to react and build it's own stock of immune responses. When you take a vaccine, you aren't getting pure undiluted tuberculosis or measles - you are getting an antibody that fools the immune system ...

Advantages: It certainly works for me. Disadvantages: None
I'm going to write this opinion from my own experience. I am not an expert on homeopathy but I am a believer.
I started taking treatments when I was about 15. I had asthma and severe rhinitis (spelling?) which left me unable to leave the house without a box of tissues. My rhinitis is now almost non-existent and I only need to take my inhaler about once a month! If this isn’t enough of a miracle for you I have since contracted a mild form of ... ...know CFS is a mild form of ME, in my case it means that I tire very easily and if I go beyond my limits I get symptoms which I believed to be tonsillitis for many years and took a large number of penicillin doses in an attempt to cure. I started at university in London last year and my mother suggested that as I live next door to the Royal Homeopathic Hospital it might be a good idea to see if they could help me with what was always going to be a ...

How Does Homeopathic Remedies Work?
-------------------------------------
Homeopathy works by treating a person as a whole, or holistically, so although presenting symptoms will be looked at, the individual person, his or her mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health – will be taken into account, too. Homeopathy is based on the principle that “like cures like” (from the Latin similia similibus curentur), meaning the treatment ... ...helping. Although it has roots that go back many centuries, it began in its present form approximately 200 years ago.
The History of Homeopathy
--------------------------
It was the Greek physician Hippocrates who was the first person to understand the principle of treating the body with a remedy which will produce similar symptoms to the ailment suffered. However, it was the German physician Samuel Hahnemann who first developed homeopathy as ...
