I bought a second hand 1999 honda accord ES in 2003, with just 36K miles on the clock, the car was advertised at £6000 with a 2 year warenty from a honda main dealer.
Before I go any further, if you had logged on to auto trader at the time you would of noticed that this was the cheapest 2 litre family car around with this number of miles.
Next take into account it comes with a 2 year honda warrenty + I didn't pay the asking price, Next take into account that this car, with the optional extras fitted, (rear, and front spoiler and side skirts, all Honda extra's fitted when new) had a new price of over £20000. So as a new car it depricated like a brick, but as a second hand buy on paper it looks good.
So I took it for a test drive, (prior to the Honda I had an R reg Audi A8 2.6 V6, which had had numerous minor faults). The car seemed well screwed together, and the instrument binacles, looked like they where from an Alfa. Althought it did not have the pull of the audi it was not far of fwhich considering it is a 2 litre and the audi was a 2.8 V6 was very impressive, plus the ngine note is fantastic.
We went back the next day did some haggling and bought the car. Since then I have done nearlly 9000 trouble free, fun, smooth enjoyable miles, in 3 months.
I have since bought a CD changer for it which fits into the standard BOSE system, and sounds great, and the only other addition is stuffing some foam packing beneath the back self to stop a very minor rattle.
I have driven a lot of cars , (new BMWs, VW, CELICA's, MR2s, Audi's) and this is the most complete allround car I have driven. It carries the 2.4 kids with no problems, and is fun to drive.
the only down side I have found is that the boot hinges stick out when the boot is closed which takes up a fair bit of space, you will know what I mean if you look at one.
The next service is due in a a couple of weeks so fingers crossed it will sail through and not cost me an arm and a leg.
