Honda Accord coupé

Advantages: Safe, Reliable, Handles well and looks good too
Disadvantages: only two doors so can be an issue if you have tall friends

I owned a Honda Accord Coupe for 6 years and had no problems with it at all, the servicing was at reasonable cost and very little major work needed doing, in fact when the battery went after 10 years service it was a "shock" that something needed to be purchased. If there was one thing that I would have loved to have been included in our model its air conditioning, as we got a tad hot driving round Europe, that said the car did 3000 miles in a week and didn't bat an eye lid, it never overheated, or failed to start and it was put through extreme weather as well. ...it may be, but standard Honda parts are easily available and Honda service is superb. The car is very comfortable and quiet. It is a joy to drive, the V6 version giving some rewarding power and an enjoyable driving experience. Equipment level is high, making long journies effortless and even refreshing. Advantages: Puts a smile on your face

...car can be had for around £11000 to £12000 now and I have just renewed my insurance for a smigin under £300 (protected, £200 excess, leagal cover etc). Parts are expensivel if you go to Lotus dealers, but you can source parts from the OEMs. The windscreen wiper and mechanism comes from a Citroen AX, as do the light swithes. Column stalks and locks are from Vauxhall, and all engine and service parts are standard Rover (full listings can be found on the internet) It is smooth, eager and even with my relativly heavy right foot returns 36 mpg which is astonishing for a car capable of 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. It even returns around 20 mpg on the track. The Elise costs less to own and run than our Honda Accord Coupe (RIP) now a shiny red Honda S2000. The Elise is still cheaper. ...I have been running on LPG for a little over five years now, and covered a shade under 220,000 miles in two cars. The first car was a Honda Accord 2.2 Coupe that had 65,000 miles on the clock when I had it converted to gas. Used was a cheap and basic OMVL kit. This basically converted an injection engine, into a carburettor engine by inserting little more than an open pipe into the inlet manifold, allowing the engine to suck the gas into the cylinders for combustion. Luckily the engine was powerful enough to start with to compensate for the resulting drop in power. There was a cylinder in the boot behind the back seats which made the boot one foot shorter, but I still retained the full sized spare wheel. The engine was from the ultimately reliable Honda stable so; all the problems that I could/should of have had with such a cheap... Read review
