I bought my first 'Bird', a 2000 'W' reg FI model for a very good price. My gain-his loss. My old bike was an aged XJ900 - Wow, what a difference!! The only down side was, 20000 miles of age, the regulator/rectifier cooked itself and the battery, leaving me stranded on the hardshoulder for 3+hours - God bless the RAC - NOT!!! £270 parts & labour to fix. Done two European jaunts since, with the FI light flickering ominously & periodically (Lit up big time before my big break down!) but with no performance issues associated with that bloody FI light. Really speaking (FI light excluded), good all rounder, comfy ride, good pick-up, good tourer (me, the missus and full soft luggage was a P.O.P.).
Haven't had chance to give it a good blat! too many speed vans about. Would I buy another? As long as my FI problem is just with this machine, yes.
