been a biker now for 10 years and made my way up the class's to 1000cc. Was made redundant at the start of the year and had to get new job which was 40 miles away and the car was to expensive to run and so was the big bike.

So decided to buy a little cbr 400 rr 1991 off a friend. Bike needed a lot of tlc, Most common bit i found was the rust on the back end of the frame near the back wheel, just gave it a good rub down and then treated the rust and then repaint with some silver hammerite!

Parts are getting harder to find for this model but there is website's out there that will supply aftermarket and oem parts

www.davidsilverspares.co.uk - does all oem honda parts for this bike
www.shopwemoto.com - does plenty of aftermarket parts for this bike

Found it really hard to trace bodywork for this bike, ebay does come up with oem panels but most are in bad condition and the ones that are in good condition are really expensive.

got all my panels from www.skidmarks.co.uk and where brand new and they cost £300 for a complete brand new and painted panels. Been using the bike to work now for 4 months and its been really good, if you drive within the limits fuel mpg is really good, i also picked a bridgestone tyre, the bt - 092 all round tyre.

With this tyre you get good grip and lots more miles out the tyre, but there is other tyres out there just like the bridgestone like dunlops d207 sportmax which is a really good all rounder as well.

This bike is a really good stepping stone for a biker just past there test, handles well and is fast. Bike is on the low side compared to other 400's in its class and if you where tall you may find this bike just a little to low for you.

nc29 is really easy to work round, and i got the bike serviced with the help of the good old haynes manual.

all in all this is a great 1st sportsbike if you have past your test or perfect for a ladys sportbike, cheap to tax, great mpg and handling. out there are very clean models but expect to pay good money for them.

also on the 400 class with cbr 400 are the vfr 400 and the rvf 400 which was hondas flag ship 400

Welcome to Ciao! i wish my legs were still in a condition to ride bikes! (damaged my knees in RTA 1988) I'm not very tall, so this would be ideal! . . . ♥ jesi ♥
