I bought one of these when I passed my cbt because it was cheap. First thing I realised was how simple the bike is. I had the kick start version and I know a starter motor version is available as well. My choice I'd go for the starter motor as the kick start can be a pain in winter when trying to start the bike.
The bike is a good first bike to ride and get used to the roads. You only get the basic functions that you need for the road and this helps if you have just started in motorcycling. Its not a sports bike and doesn't hand;e as such but it will get you from A to B and if you do not try and push it too much it can be fun.
I used to do at least 40 miles a day commuting and found it comfortable, though you will suffer from wind blast at higher speeds.
Servicing can be made cheaper by getting hold of a service manual and doing some or most of the work yourself. I found it easy to work on and saved myself a lot of money in the process.
On the downside is the power output, this is more to do with fitting in with the law than the design, though the overall desin isn't going set pulses racing. Its certainly fast enough to keep up with the traffic on most A roads, and in a way a plus as it also means that if you open the throttle full you are not going to try and hold on and possibly lose a little confidence in the process.
As a basic commuter, if you are looking for a bike that isn't going to cost in petrol and will not have huge running costs then take a look and go for a test ride. It may not look like a fun bike to ride but you could be in for a surprise.
