Ive seen all the other reviews for the CG125 and everybody says the same things, most of which are true, but ive been riding my new '04 reg GC125 (with the new electric start/disk brake/new looks) and it's much much better.
I learned on the old CG125 and it vibrates like crazy, and the mirrors are simply useless at anything over 30, but with the new CG125 things have changed. I find it very comfortable to ride, the vibrations have gone, and the mirrors dont vibrate so you can actually see what's behind you (something you dont get on most big bikes!).

Now for the important bits. The bike is certainly not lacking power in the lower gears. It accelerates really quickly, and whatever other people say, it will cruise at 60mph without a 2nd thought. The problem comes trying to get from ~63 up to anything faster. Honda rate the bike to something like 67mph. I find unless you’re into the wind, it will happily sit at 70 (on dual-carriage way of course) and I’ve had 74 out of mine on many occasions.
What the bike really lack then is not so much speed (if u want to stay within the limits it’s fine) but it has no power at high speed. Getting from 62/63 up to anything like 70-72mph takes a while. Attempting to overtake something doing 65mph is very very slow.

Looks wise the new restyled CG125 with its round headlight and stuff is much much nicer. I’m very impressed with it. I think she’s a very beautiful little bike but then im biased!!

As other people say, if you want a cheap to run, cheap to maintain bike that wont cost you the world to insure (im on £344/yr TPF&T with 'Biketeam', they seem to give cheap insureance for new/young riders) then buy a CG125. If you want a bike that will scare somebody who’s been riding for years with the sheer power it has, buy an RS125 but be careful because the engines are known to go all the time.
