My bike is a honda cg 125 on an 02 plate, nearly four year old now and my model has the electric start and drum brakes front and rear. I have been riding it to work (18 miles per day) now for the past three years and I can honestly say nothing has gone wrong with my bike. The bike is lightweight, body style is ok and the seating position is upright compared to other tourers and commuters.

The cg will literally run on fumes, it will keep going and going on very little petrol, considering the constant increase in the cost of petrol. Bearing in mind I travel 18 miles a day four to five times a week I usually put around £15-£20 in the tank once a month. The road tax in the UK is only £15 per year for the bike and insurance is quite low. (I found ebike insurance the cheapest by far, found at www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk). The riding position is comfortable, and the cg holds my weight and height easily over long distances, I am 6ft 1" and around 15.5 stone and the cg copes very well. Being quite tall you would think I would struggle on a cg however I am quite happy and comfortable commuting.

There are a few draw backs to the cg, if you have one of the older models, (prior to 2003) your bike will only have drum brakes front and rear. The drums are not too bad and I have never had a problem stopping but there are not as sharp as disk brakes and they do not give me 100% confidence in them.

The electric start on the 2002-2006 models struggle to start in the winter months and a lot of choke is needed to get it going. There is a kick start but if you use it in the colder months you usually break out into a swet before getting to work-not good!

Overall, I would definetly recommend for anyone to buy a cg 125. My main complaint is that there is very little pulling power to get you to the top speed of around 65mph which is needed on the Uks A roads. Bearing this in mind, and the cost of an mot (around £20) and service (around £60-£70) you will definetly save money in the long term buying a cg.
