This bike is up there with the KX500 and Maico 490!It kicks out 65bhp,which may not sound a lot,but it makes around 100ib/ft of torque... It is not a bike for novices. My brother, who has been riding bikes for years, crashed it badly and broke his back!He is now fine. But what a bike!It will wheelie off the throttle from tickover, and has been known to get up on the back wheel in 5th gear when opening up from half throttle!! It will say bye-bye to any 125 and most 250s.what the CR500 is very good for is big jumps and hillclimbs. It could get up any hill on broxburn bing, where i usually ride, whereas my mate's suzuki rm125 would splutter and stall. Mine was a 1990 model. There have been few model changes over the bike's lifetime, therefore all you are really looking to pay for is not the most modern, but one in good nick for a decent price. If you are an absolute power junkie, this is the bike for you! If,however, you are looking to upgrade from a Honda MTX80 or Yamaha DT125R,you have been warned....
