I purchased a Honda CRV over two years ago from new and quite honestly it is the most reliable car I have ever owned. Compared to other manufacturers Honda appear to be more customer focussed: we have made only one claim under the warranty which was a broken seal on the back hatch. The Franchised Dealer said the item was not covered as it was a weear and tear item, but Honda UK disagreed with them and with no quibbles replaced the seal for no charge.
It is a very practical car and the waterproof compartment in the boot is very useful for muddy boots. Some owners will no doubt use the picnic table but to date we haven't. I think the shower attachment is really just a gimmick.
We have the manual version and I prefer it to the automatic (my sister in the States has an automatic CRV) as the auto box seems to sap some of the performance of the vehicle.Fuel consumption averages at around 25 mpg (generally town driving) which improves to around 30+ mpg on longer runs.
Advantages: The interior is excellent, loads of space, lots of storage areas. Disadvantages: Very disapointed with the middle lap belt, most cars now have an inertia reel there, this has a lap belt and the catch is different, so many times in the night people have got the two swopped and been unable to click the catch
