It corners pretty well (and bear in mind that I am comparing it to a sports car), and the VTEC 1.6 engine is not slow either. Benefits - great height above other drivers, so you feel safe with good visibility. Excellent styling - lovely shape and great fun to drive despite it's size. It's quite a head turner too as there aren't that many about compared to most SUVs.
Negative points - ok well so far not so many as far as I can see. Just one or two... Firstly I think the interior is a bit plasticy ... more
Well I finally took the plunge and bought a 51 plate HRV in supersonic blue about a month or so ago and I haven't regretted it for a moment despite the fact that I was losing an MX5 for it.
So having gone from a sports car to a high riding vehicle as Honda proclaimed it to be, I was not disappointed. It handles well for it's size. It is more like a super-mini than a 4x4, certainly not having the weight of one. It corners pretty well (and bear in mind that I am comparing it to a sports car), and the VTEC 1.6 engine is not slow either. Ok, it's not as nippy as an MX5 but believe me, it has left a few people gobsmacked at lights when it has nipped away much quicker than the average SUV. Even my friends, as passengers, have been very impressed by the smooth and almost silent at times, ride. They even commented that going over sleeping policemen wasn't as bad as usual in the back. They weren't thrown upwards like usually happens, but then I guess that is the suspension and being so much higher set from the wheels.
It has good fuel consumption comparatively for an SUV ... making a good 340 miles or so to a tank. The air con (which is standard) doesn't seem to send the revs flying up either which is common, so encourages you to use it. They are a good spec for an SUV - standard air con, electric windows front (no windows in 3 door version, some electric windows in higher spec 5 door car, which is 10cm longer and a bit spacier in rear). Good double glove compartment, spacious when seats are down in rear via 50/50 seat split. Electric windows switch to flat against car for parking. Passenger and Driver airbags as standard. CD upgrade in some cars - mine has Honda upgrade - very good.
Firstly I think the interior is a bit plasticy for a Honda - surprisingly so, and the car doors sound tinny when you close them with any force! Secondly there are only 2 seats in the rear (this is true in both the 3 and 5 door cars). So it is a 4 person car - 4 seatbelts. Thirdly and finally - visibility could be a little better out of the rear but this is the case with all SUVs. I testdrove quite a few before deciding on the HRV.
I am afraid that the looks, the engine, the fact it was a Honda, and it's reasonable price were what won me over. I haven't regretted it at all ... it's the perfect car for someone who needs just that bit extra space that an ordinary car doesn't provide.
Advantages: Looks, reliability, Looks. Disadvantages: Cost of parts and service, lack of power.
...power, a lot more......I understand Honda have rectified this a little by bringing out the CVT version with around 20bhp more than the standard 1.6, which should go a little way to solving this, but it was too late for me! Honda parts and service, PLEASE take into account if your thinking about buying an H-RV the fact that Honda cars are very expensive to run and maintain. The first service (9000 miles) cost around £150 and that was an intermediate ... ...and the usual Honda reliability ( I have not had one mechanical or electrical fault in over a year!)
But why would anyone want the H-RV, it has so many bad points? Quite simply, and obvious to all that see the car..............
ITS THE BEST LOOKING CAR AROUND!!!!!! ...

Advantages: Stands out from the crowd, value holds well, good features Disadvantages: A couple of small design niggles
...aerodynamic reason for this apparently), Honda replaced the high-level brake light in the rear window with one that runs the length of the roof spoiler which looks better but is a bit annoying to people who bought the car in the first year of release. Overall I'd recommend one but I'd go for the VTEC engine (unreleased when I got mine) and only buy the five-door if you need five doors. If you want to stand out and turn a few heads but for a comparitively ...

Advantages: Looks, Reliability, Style & Value for money! Disadvantages: Space!!
I have the Honda HRV 1.6 4WD, it's a great car to get admired in from your friends or by people in the streets. You get a great quality car for very good money. It doesn't compare to most 4x4's however if you are only using it as a family car it's great value for money!!
The back is rather small on space with only 2 seats, call me sexist but I see it is has a ladies car, with your children in the back and then it is pure luxury.
One downside that's ... ...tiny knock and you've caused a lot of damage.
The HRV can be cornered almost as enthusiastically as a normal car and the V-tech engine certainly surprises other drivers as the HRV pulls away from them.I think they expect it to be slow, which it is not.The build quality is superb and reliability should not be an issue with a Honda. Overall it's great fun and relatively cheap!! ...

Advantages: Roomy, Very Stylish Looking and Nippy Disadvantages: Not very asthetically pleasing inside
...is what we call our Honda CRV 1.6 4WD. Going from an Astra with very little oomph was fantastic. Put you foot down with Hervy he wants to go, when you want to slow down he does unlike our last car.
We bought the Honda in a colour called Perla, I think thats how it is pronounced. It is a very nice colour which glistens in the sun. The general look of the outside of this motor is very nice to the eye, the one thing i was pleased about was we didn't ... ...like, I don't know why but I don't.
Tinted back windows is ideal for when the kids are in the car as sunshades don't work that well. Inside i find it quite spacious apart from the boot. Thats the biggest let down really. But I have three children which one of them is 2 and sits in a bulky car seat. With my child in the car seat my other 2 kids still have ample room to sit in the back seat and move about. Leg space in the bag is quite substantial ...

Advantages: Reliability Disadvantages: only 4 seats
Owned a HRV from new for 5 years. This is the longest I ever kept a car. The only time it has been to the garge during 40 000 miles is for its annual service. In all thistime it only needed new windscren wipers and tyres, although at about £90 each tyres are not cheap.
Paintwork still looks ike new anddrives like a dream - still turns heads!
High position gives good views without the size of bigger 4wd's so very easy to park.

Advantages: Nice looking car with practical benefits Disadvantages: Rear visibility
I would not think of Honda when it comes to 4 X 4 jeep type off roaders.
Landrover,Suzuki and Chrysler Jeep yes!
it now seems every motor manufacturer wants to jump on the offroad bandwagon and build a 4 x 4.
But the Honda CRV is a nice little car as well as an off roader. I compare it to the Rav 4 and BMW or Mercedes offering.
Special edition models of popular cars usually add a number of extra equipment items for little extra cost and that's exactly what Honda offers with its HR-V 'Special Edition'.
It comes in 2 flavours of Jeep. A 2 Wheel version and a 4WD version. The difference in Price is only £500 to.
Exterior.

It looks like a high wheel base car with its 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, integrated roof rails and body coloured side sills. Add to this a solid Spare Wheel cover coloured to the car ...

Advantages: Good performance, economical, well kitted out. Disadvantages: none except tyre size
Having had two other Nissans from the same local dealer, a Micra and an Almera, I know Nissans are well built and very reliable.
In the past, Nissans have been described as bland by some people but the Note is a world away from that.
I got all the techy info off the net and traded in my two year old HondaHR-V, having never actually sat in a Note I was quite gobsmacked at the difference between my other two Nissans.
All the heater, air con and vents are controlled by electronic dials, the audio system has a six CD auto changer and sounds superb, there is provision for MP3 connection and bluetooth mobile phone with onboard microphone and speaker.
The seats are half leather with 60/40 rear split, pull down arm rest for driver and rear seat passengers. The rear seats can be moved back and forth by means of a handle in the boot ...
Advantages: Power and torque Disadvantages: Styling, handling and diesel rattle
’s used to driving the low down cruiser, the VW Passat, this is a big car. Like all SUV’s, it’s pretty ugly in my opinion. I’m not sure if anyone finds this sort of look attractive, but beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. The only SUV of any note in this department is the HondaHR-V. With its big tyres covered by huge grotesque wheel arches and the added embarrassment of the height of anti-coolness, the traditional Nissan grille and badge, it’s like a big fat momma.
Inside things don’t improve too much either. I’ve never known a Nissan to have a stylish interior and the cheap looking light grey plastics in this machine do nothing for the front dash. The plastics are at least hard wearing and the build is good. It would need to be, because the rattles in a car like this would drive you mad ...
