Ive how owned a baby blue Honda Legend for two months. Its the six cylinder 2.7 litres 2 door coupe auto version in metallic blue on a 1988 E plate.I bought it for £550 quid, up to now what a bargain. Its got leather electric seats, power steering, electric sunroof , electric windows and mirrors and central locking.Best of all its got cruise control and aircon....but heres the down side. The aircon was disconnected by a previous owner due to the low miles ber gallon.Even with it off I only average 9mpg round the doors and up to 23mpg on a run.It automatically indicators when you pass a petrol station(only joking)Insurance is a group 16,but is not expensive thanks to privilege insurance.
Even for the cars age it shows little rust.Only bits are round the bottom of the rear aches, so rust proofing is good. All the toys still work, but that was thankfully due to a full Honda service history. It runs very smooth , no bangs or anything.Since this car was £26,500 new, I consider it to be a bargain even with the 156,000 miles on the clock.Someone had cared for this car as it use to have a private plate VCS 3 which i believe is worth about 10 grand, sadly it was remove a year before I bought it.If this car had been one of its rivals a Mercedes,Jag or BMW 5 series i would have paid a near to £3000 for an example like mine.
With regards to maintance and spare parts, most parts from a Rover 827 sterling fit around on the running gear and engines,(rovers rust away so plenty in scrap yards at cheap prices). This car is very reliable, just shame about my petrol bill.....at least my argos card is always full!!!!
...who had aquired a 92' Honda Legend 3.2 V6 a little over 9 months ago and who might be willing to part with it. One succesful journey later (and a Measly £200 ! ) and I was the proud owner of 'Lady Legend'. We left for france the next day and over the course of the next month we covered over 3000 miles of high speed (day-long) driving, high altitude (2900 metres!) and the occasional sleep in the car (not to be reccomended near public bins!) During ... ...indefinitely.
I would reccomend a Honda to anyone as 'Lady Legend' was 15 years old, had done 180000 miles, cost us next to nothing and yet still every gadget and mechanical part worked like new - What a fantastic car!
PostScript; Several people have written to me requiring a few more figures, so for you guys here is what I know!
Whilst we were on the trip she managed 30 mpg on several occasions but was usually around the 25mpg mark, I suspect ...

Advantages: Performance, audio system, boot space Disadvantages: Fuel consumption if driven hard
The car is perfect in almost every way. Bought second hand, after buying a coupe the difference is noticable straight away. The saloon has a much larger passenger compartment, with a lot more leg room in the rear. The boot is also bigger. With remove central locking and boot release the functions are amazing.
A crisp sound system, thanks to good quality speakers and the factory fit Bose amplifier is fantastic. The controls are easy and well laid ... ...a few years old now, the car does lack some modern technology. But with SRS and electric seats, seatbelts and door closers (like on Rolls-Royces!) it is well loaded.
The leather quality is second to none, and the car is the equivelent to a much more expensive luxuary car of other brands. The performance is astonishing, achieving 60mph in aorund 6 seconds. The 3.2 litre V6 engine is torquey and sounds gorgeous. Fuel consumption is ok, at around 30-35miles ...

Advantages: 3 years warranty/breakdown cover 1 year free insurance Disadvantages: Price a little steep starting at £7495 for expression model
comfortable for long distances.I would recommend to pay the extra for the central locking kit(about £250).I didnot and find it a pain as you need to always lock the door with the key.
With regards to fuel, I dont find this vehicle economical.Im only just over 40 mpg.My old diesel corsa would return 55 mpg plus and my other car a HondaLegend 2.7 still returns 32mpg on the same run (85 percent dual carriageway driving and the rest open city roads).
Overall Im very impressed by this car and would recommend it.Its a really nice car to drive. Its a lot more spacious than the out going model.
One final word to warning.Watch on SILVER coloured cars as there is a problem with patchy paint work on the bonnet area.I had a problem on the first one I recieved.Dont take the vehicle away from the dealer if you find this problem.Do not accept them to ...

Advantages: Good built, reliability, smooth ride, good economy, funky interior Disadvantages: Have'nt found any
and speakers which come as standard. I have no complaints as I dont normally listen to "boom boom" music. However in the executive civic we bought and customised the sound system. The difference between to two cars is quite noticable with reference to the sound output. I mean lets face it, not many people I know get into there car and simply drive. Most will put the radio on or a favorite CD. Without the incar audio system driving would lose face. If you know what I mean. Im not by any means slating the Honda brand that comes as standard, it would be quite adequate for the majority of drivers. However customising the car is simply adding your own "touch" to an already brilliant design.
In closing, I made the right decision to buy the car, the car is a legend in its own right and as long as Honda can churn cars out like this little ...
