...How did Honda do it? Back in 1986 when the VFR750 was first introduced Honda was on the slippery slope to motorcycle oblivion.
They had proved to one and all that they couldn't make a reliable V4 engine. The early eighties V4 engined models, the VF500 and VF750, both blew up if ridden hard, and wore cam chains out at an alarming rate regardless Honda's in line four cylinder bikes were failing in comparison to faster rivals from Suzuki, and more reliable bikes from Kawasaki. The smaller bikes in the range were dying a death too, Yamaha and new Italian manufacturers taking over Honda's bread and butter market with aplomb.
In short the big H's motorcycle arm was in big trouble.

...My VFR was the 1st ever motorbike i had ridden aand im glad to say it brought me into the world of motorbikes and it wont be my last!! Its got good looks, i very nice sound, especialy at high revs, handles good and accelerates like a dream. Anybody thinking about buying one of these, then i would definatly approve of it. its looks are also very good. for quite an old bike, it fits in to the world of modern motorbikes nicely and doesnt look out of place. Fuel consumption is also very good, going for miles, and miles, and miles without having to refuel. comfort is also good, and you can last long amounts of time on the bike without getting to much aching or cramps....

Advantages: Compact, Stylish, Fast Disadvantages: Can't get a true oil level unless it's dipped when cold.
...get is that the footpegs vibrate as the oil level gets low. As long as you watch out for this it's no problem & is a fast & reliable steed.
I found the twin headlamps excellent & I liked the look & layout of the dash. The fairing does keep the worst of the weather off you if you tuck in behind it. It managed an indicated 127mph 2-up on the flat & would pull more when solo.
I would recommend it! Having owned a VFR750 as well the CBX750F is much easier to maintain if you want to keep costs down.
