King or queen of the road

Advantages: Big, stylish and comfortable
Disadvantages: Some design faults, should have 6-speed gearbox

1. I have never actually ridden this motorbike, although from July to December 2002 I was a regular pillion on one. My boyfriend gained his full bike licence in May 2002. He owned a Yamaha TW125 and that was our mode of transport until the Varadero came along.

Ever since Honda released the XL125V Varadero in August 2001 my boyfriend wanted one. When ...
...end of the meaty exhaust. Honda cunningly left out any signs that would give away the real cc.

My boyfriend took it for a spin and came back with they biggest grin on his face. He went straight home and began begging to his parents. The Varadero was an ‘02’ reg, just a few months old. The colour was black and silver and it came with smart water (a solution hidden somewhere on the bike that can be tracked back to the owner). It also ... more

lord of 125cc

Advantages: reilable, economical, good looking
Disadvantages: exhuast and nuts gets rusty

Definately the best 125 market can offer you. The best part is the looks which is just great it looks like 400 to 600cc. Fuel consumption is excellent just fill the tank with 14 pounds and its gona give you an average of 44miles per litre. All the features are good but there is no fuel guage [the fuel guage is not very reliable in motorcycles anyway] The height of this bike is bit more then average which makes it hard to drive if you are shorter ...

Honda xl 125 v varadero 2005

Advantages: Big bike looks, Fuel economy, Ride comfort
Disadvantages: None found so far

I almost missed this bike when i was looking to buy a learner legal for myself. I was browsing the dealers stock and had sat on nearly all the 125's i could find when the owner pointed out this model. I was shocked to find it was only a 125 as it is such a large style bike, perfect i thought straight away. The bike is fantasticly comfy and surprisingly easy to ride. I thought that it might be a bit of a pig to handel cause of its size but you can ...
...the widest part (unless you're my size) it is ideal at getting through the traffic in and around town etc. I travel on A and B roads to work and the bike feels at home on both. Fuel economy is superb and it will do 70mph of which is more than enough on our roads today. ...

Learner Legal Big Bike

Advantages: Big bike feel, comfort
Disadvantages: Learner legal power restriction

I bought the XL125V as I wanted to learn to ride a motorbike that felt like a big bike so that I could easily make the transition to Direct Access. Bike is very comfortable, looks good, and enjoyable to ride. The only downside is the lack of power that comes with having a learner legal bike but saying that I have had 75mph out of mine. Good value and reasonably economical although can be temperamental starting. The bike would be a lot more driveable ...

sisters ? the main give away being the smaller tyres but not something most people would necessarily notice at first glance. However, these big looks are matched by a big weight ? 146kg to be exact or for those of you who like your imperials mint or otherwise it?s a lick off of 23 stone. I certainly noticed this the first time I tried to walk to the end of the road with her. I?m no tiny wallflower and between nursing and kickboxing am fairly sturdily built for want of a less polite euphemism but I honestly thought I might have herniated by the end of the road. With most 125?s being between 101-140kg she is one of the heavyweights of her class only being outweighed by the 149kg Honda XL125V Varadero, the 150kg Hyosung GT125 Comet, the 150kg Kymco Hipster and the 150kg Daelim Daystar. However of these five heavier bikes only the Varadero ...
