...my first dealing with Minories Honda dealer in Gateshead next to the Metrocentre.
Sitting in the corner covered in muck was a Breeze blue Corsa. The state of the car did not bother me, as I knew it would clean up nice because after all it was only 6-7 months old. I was asked if the salesman could help me, and off we went. First off all I wanted to know the price of the vehicle and off we went to talk about the car.
At ... ...my wife saw the car.
Mileage?
Was the Vauxhall warranty and breakdown cover still valid for the remained of the three years?
And the most important the price?
I had previously been into three Vauxhall dealers over the past three weeks and had only really been taken by one car. This was a Brand new Corsa un-registered and it only had 20 miles on the clock. The price was £7495 which included 6 months road ... more
I have been looking to replace my wife’s Vauxhall Corsa for the past three weeks. We have been looking at buying a six-month-old five door Corsa in Breeze blue, but finding the right vehicle has been hard because of the colour. We were thinking about settling for Star Silver, but as this was the colour of our current car so we fancied a change. You have to let your neighbours know you got a new car some how!
Advertised in our local paper on Friday in the motoring section was an advert offering 2002 (02) plate Corsa GLS 5 doors in a choice of colours from £6495. The price was excellent, but the advert had the magic word car dealers like to tempt you in with…From!!!.
So off I went in a good mood straight from watching Newcastle United stuff Sunderland. I went by myself as my wife was visiting her Mam that day and I was sick of spending weekends trailing around garages looking for the right motor only to find it was already sold or had body damage etc. This happy mood did not last long after I had my first dealing with Minories Honda dealer in Gateshead next to the Metrocentre.

At this start I was only interested in three questions until my wife saw the car.
The price was £7495 which included 6 months road tax and 3 years warranty and breakdown cover. He offered us £4300 for our current Corsa, which is a 1.0 new shape model with 17000 miles and is only 22 months old. This left us with a balance of £3195, which was a little over what we wanted to spend, but the big problem was the colour. We decided to leave it as the dealer said he was expecting a load of 02 plate Corsa that he would be selling for about £6500-£6900.
The salesman was doing the normally sales stuff, which I take with a pinch of salt having known a few car dealers in my time. The price of the car came out at £6495 and I thought to myself great I have got myself a new car…Wrong!. Very wrong. At the bottom of the sheet was a price of £4300..Balance to pay !.
Maybe I did not remember the exact price as I was now seeing red….. What kind of idiot did this guy take me for?. One hell of an idiot I think and there is no way I am going to be paying his bonus this month. Okay I mentioned we had two cars and my wife was horse riding. Okay he has money lets rip his eye balls out I bet the dealer was saying!. Wrong cos I got up and left. If a dealer cannot be honest and straight with you from the beginning they with be horrible to deal with right along the line.
So its better to remember that out there, the dodgey car dealers still exist. I could have been robbed by this garage into buying a second hand car with would have cost we £1100 more than for a new model . Moral of this story is to trust no more, keep your mouth shut and shop about for the best deal.
Advantages: Knowledgable staff who treat you like a human being Disadvantages: none
...purchased a car from a Honda dealership in Inverness, part of the Macrea and Dick chain and thought I would share my experience with you. The car review is else where on the site.
First impressions...
I started off as most of us do at the car dealers, walking round the forecourt looking at the cars, peering in the windows and wishing i had more money!!! At other garages i have visited lately, i would have been jumped on the moment i got out of ... ...My first impression of the Honda Dealership building was WOW. Its a modern design, with huge glass walls almost all the way round leading up to a silver roof, its stunning and wouldnt look out of place as a 'modern' house. And all that glass was clean, and i mean clean, we checked to see if we could find any smears or dirt or bird stuff, this turned into a bit of a competiton, but we couldn't find any. Inside was just as well kept, no dirt, no smears, ...

Advantages: Fuel economy, performance, accommodation, dealer friendliness. Disadvantages: Minor niggles, servicing cost can be high, rattles.
We bought our Honda Civic 1.5i VTEC-E in 1997 when it was 7 months old, but just had delivery mileage. Our local Perth dealer (Weir Honda) were offering what was a nearly new car with around £1500 off the new price. We knew from looking at comparative prices that this was a good deal and managed to get mudflaps and carpet mats fitted as well.
Broadly the experience has been very good - the dealer has been helpful in sorting out several minor problems. ... ...minor adjustment), a missing jacking point on the rear nearside, a silencer which gave out after 2 years' use, squeaky ventilation fan and a stuck sunroof (x2). None of these prevented the car from running and all were fixed free of charge. In the case of the silncer they really did not have to do this but decided to offer a replacement ex-gratia.
In terms of running it offers excellent fuel economy at an average 40-42mpg, with the engine tuned ...

...to write about our local Honda dealer - Brighton Honda.
You have to have a certain amount of sympathy with this outfit, they did not know me from Adam and when I walk into a car dealer I make it my business to know just a little bit about the product that I or my company are going to pay £20,000 for.
However this started badly, yes I was after a new Accord Diesel, yes it had only been on the market for a month or so but not being able to source ... ...of a demonstrator from another Honda dealer (John Coopers at Ferring, who in hindsight, would have been a much more professional set up to deal with). Brighton Honda thought that a ten minute run in a Tourer (that's the heavier estate model) with 8 miles on the clock, on trade plates would suffice. At the end of the day, having obtained three quotes Brighton Honda did come up with the best price by a couple of hundred pounds - money that would have ...

Advantages: Good reliable and well designed cars on the whole... Disadvantages: Dodgy dealers (varies from place to place). There is only normally one franchised dealer in most towns outside London. This means that the dealers get away with a lot!!!
I have been a Honda driver for many years and have found that the cars are on the whole very reliable. However, I have to say that I have never been too happy with the dealer network. One draw back is that most towns have only one approved Honda dealer that monopolises the area. This often means that they can get away with bad service as consumers in the local area have little choice. Especially if they want to maintain their warranty. You will be ... ...4" service done at DeVries Honda in Hull. This costs GBP 200. Not too cheap but it was the top level service that on paper seemed to check, replace, adjust, and clean a whole load of stuff. Part of the service should include replacing the spark plugs and air filter. Fairly straight forward tasks. On getting my car back home I popped the bonnet (to check something else). I found that the cover and its bolts over the engine were still dusty. This would ...

Advantages: Superb quality service and very friendly staff Disadvantages: None
I have always found the quality of service at my local devries to be the best I have ever experienced. The customer care and after sales service have always been great. An example of this was during a recent MOT they informed me of a fault in my Air Conditioning (which I had not noticed). The then informed me that this would be repaired for free under the terms of my extended warrenty. This was a breath of fresh air compared to dealerships I have ... ...on time and they are always there as backup incase you have any problems of queries. Bob the sales manager was kind and sincere and gave a very friendly attitude. He dealt with any issues I had very quickly and appropriately. The reception staff are always warm and friendly, and will assist you in every way they can. I have only had small dealings with the sales team, but whenever I have spoken to them they have been helpful.
Overall they offer ...

WHAT IS IT?
The Jazz is Honda's entry into the highly contested and ever popular "supermini" market. It is a five door hatchback, a very simple range to choose from as there are no variants; saloon, convertible etc, all Jazz models therefore share the same "two box" styling. For those of you to whom it may be important, the dimensions are as follows:
Length 3845mm x Width 1878mm x Height 1525mm.
It is therefore a fairly short, yet wide and tall small car, having a tardis affect inside where it seems much larger than you would think looking at the car sitting next to the pavement.
There are any number of competitors from Japanese, Korean and European countries, probably its' most likely competition can be found in the form of the Ford Fiesta, Mitsubishi Colt, Nissan Micra and Vauxhall Corsa, all of which offer a much larger ...

Just to clear a few things up from previous review.
MK II Honda CRX is NOT a boy racer car at all. The majority of UK owned MK II's are owned by enthusiasts from the owners club and are taken complete care of regardless of cost . I spent £500 on mine just last month, no not on neon lights and a body kit. New clutch, new discs and calipers, new exhaust (Standard), CV boots and Tax. I fitted all the parts myself as Honda's labour charges are ridiculous and I don't trust anybody else
It's an excellent car though. Once you drive one you will never feel 100% driving any other car there's no experience like it. It feels like you are sat on the floor , everything is angled towards the driver. Being the first honda with independant dual wishbone point to point suspension it handles like a go-kart and was the inspiration for the entire ...

Advantages: Great value for money and good to the gallon Disadvantages: didnt have it in green, and more space in the back would be good.
I test drove a honda jazz and found it a very enjoyable car to drive, I am 31 years of age and don'tbelieve the strories that Honda Jazz cars are for the older generation.
After a quick and I mean quick and quiet spin along the bypass I found myself buying a metalic blue Honda Jazz for a reasonable price.
It's for all ages and m delighted to have purchased one and would reccommend one to everyone .
The boot of the car had plenty of space fpr our fortnightly big shop and Littlemans bike.
We do car boots most weekends and the amount of household unwanted stuff we have fits in this tidy little good loking spacious car.
If I had my way the wife would have one too but she went fort he Honda Accord which is just as wonderful as the Jazz,.
Regards
Jason ...
