Okay, so I've had a Dyson - and broken it, and bought a cheap vacuum - and my daughter broke it, and this week went out and bought this Hoover. I love it, its ace. I have 3 cats, a long haired Golden Retriever, workmen ( putting in central heating, and plasterers) - and its fab... The cleaner does exactly what its supposed to. It has wonderful suction, and the variable carpet height adjuster makes it easy work to switch between vacuuming carpet ...
...carpet far, far better than my old Dyson ever used to. It removes my daughters long hair with ease - no more scuffing the carpet with my trainers to form balls of her hair, or the cats.... I should have bought one ages ago. This is the very first upright I've owned, and apart from getting used to having to wind up the the flex, rather than having it wind itself in, there is nothing I would change. We too had the misfortune to buy one of these machines, on the recommendation of the salesman at Comet. When working the suction is very powerful, but it only lasts for very short periods. The plastic collecting container is very small. Even before it is full the cleaner loses suction as the inlet filter blocks. The manual recommends regular washing of the filter but should you need to wash the fiter out every time you use the cleaner ?? I think not. As soon as funds allow we will purchase a 'proper' vaccuum cleaner and consigne this item to the nearest skip. I would not recommend anyone purchasing this item.

We purchased the Hoover DM 5525 2000w in October 05 having given away a Dyson to a friend who so was so pleased with it we could not ask for it back. We have been stuck with this maching as it is not exactly faulty, just very unsatisfactory and poor design. Although we do not own a pet, the filters still clog up with dust very regularly and have to be emptied at least once during a cleaning session. The machine will cut out on a regular basis and ...
...it can be used again. We would not recommend this machine to anyone and think it does Hoover's reputation no good at all being in it's range. Most people having had one of these machines would avoid buying another Hoover. I only wish I had read reviews before purchasing. ... Read review
