Hoover F5857 Upright Cleaner

Advantages: Cleans carpets nicely!
Disadvantages: Brushes don't work as they should!

Right, the first time I ever encountered one of these 3-in-1 steam cleaners, is when my mum moved into a two bedroom flat that would have very easily housed Jack in the Beanstalks GIANT! It was absolutely massive. The sad thing is, the landlord was a psychotic old fart. For some reason he reckoned that putting a cream coloured carpet throughout this flat would be a good idea. He even put it in the DINING ROOM! It was a lovely shade of milky cream, ...

This was meant to be a residence not a bloody hospital, and therefore there was no WAY this carpet was going to remain its pristine cream – especially as my mum had several grand children by this point. ...and empty. Someone at Hoover has obviously spent a lot of time on the design and developement of this machine and it shows! The dirty water looked like black gravy and I thought the carpets looked reasonably clean prior to attacking them. Where I had moved the sofa, the carpet looked very clean against the walked on areas, but after 2 goes (on seperate days as you have to leave the carpets to dry between cleaning) there was remarkably very little ...
...it anywhere else than from Hoover parts dept so ring them on 01204 556111 and ask for part no, 09174251 which is 6 x 500ml bottles of detergent at £27.50 delivered, which should do you 18 or so tank fulls when diluted, more than enough for an average sized house. I did try to use 1001 3 in 1 carpet cleaner but I would say save your money and buy the propper Hoover stuff as it does a measureably better job for a little over the same price per litre. ... I recently bought a house and as usual it had some really nasty looking carpets, dirty and greasy from years of neglect,accumulated dog hair and food spills. as the entire house had really bad carpets i negotiated £1300 off the asking price as i needed to buy new carpets. BONUS as i own a carpet cleaner! just saved myself £1294.01 (i had to buy shampoo @ £4.99). i've used the cleaner on spills and fresh stains before and it worked very nicely but ...

When it arrived, I tried it out on the above mentioned carpet. Some assembly was required, but that was straightforward enough. ...the clean water is dispensed, or whether it is just sucking it back up. A couple of fairly slow passes over each bit of carpet did the trick. I had enough water in the tank for this one carpet, which is about 10' by 8'. I found that it was quite heavy to manoeuvre, particulary when filled with water. Then I emptied the dirty water tank. This is powerful cleaner for deep and thorough washing and drying of carpets, tiles, upholstery and vinyl floors. It has 5 rotating brushes which clean and wash and a 2.5 litre tank capacity. It says that is cleans tile and vinyl floors to a perfect finish but I used it on my kitchen floor and it removed the sealent from in-between the tiles. ...out and if there is any fluid anywhere other than that tank it leaks a little bit, so your best bet is to empty it outside. But it is easy to use, unless you are me and have trouble pushing the bulky machine around. The buttons to get started and stopped are easy to use and nearly all on the handle.
