We bought this because of the hoover name and the price £220 was within our budget. Hoover is a name we have always been able to rely on for our domestic appliances and this condenser dryer is no exception.
We have 3 adults in our home and a very lively 3 year old grandaugther next door who has a habit of stripping off her clothes at our house so we end up washing and drying them.
All 3 adults myself, my wife and stepdaughter work full time so we are washing clothes nearly every day.
The dryer is free standing and not designed to be stood on top of a washer but because we are a bit tight for space I have put some none slip rubber pads onto the plastic feet of the dryer and lifted it on top of our washer, this has worked fine and we have never had any problems with the dryer moving or falling.
this is not recommended though.
With a capacity of 7.5kg the drum is large enough to dry a full washer load at one time which should save time and electricity.
you have 2 heat settings which are marked as high and acrylic/synthetic so you can dry delicate items safely.
The heater is a 2600w electric heater which does get quite hot in use so you do need to run the dryer's full cycle which includes a 10 minute cool cycle which serves 2 purposes 1 to prevent you burning your hands when removing clothes and 2 to prolong the life of the dryer.
The dryer is front loaded and because of the large drum it is very easy to load and unload.
All the controls are on the front above the door and again easy to use. With a push button heat control, push on switch, timer knob which is turned clockwise with easy to see time settings. Also there is an easy to follow heat and timer settings guide next to the controls.
The fluff filter needs cleaning regularly and is easy to clean which is designed for ease of use.
the dryer does have led's that light up when the condensor needs cleaning and when the water bottle needs emptying. (the dryer also has a safety cut off when the water bottle is full)
Both these functions are easy to do as the condenser and waste water bottle are concealed behind a bottom panel which easily lifts off. The condensor slips out easily and does need cleaning regularly to keep a good flow of air through the machine, this will prolong the life of your machine. Next to the condenser is the water bottle which again does pull out easily and is easy to empty.
we have found the water bottle needs emptying about every 4/5 loads. We usually clean the condensor under the shower which we find to be the easiest and quickest way, about every 2/3 weeks.
With an energy rating of C this is fairly efficient, does use quite a lot of electricity but because of its large capacity will be used less often which should save on fuel in the long term.
If, like us you have limited space in your home you will be glad to know that this machine is very quiet in operation, (some of our other dryers have been so noisy we could not hear our tv or radio).
