Yes, this will be a very expensive washing machine, because if you want to use the dryer on more than an occasional basis you will have a repairman out every six weeks. He will tell you the dryer is not suitable for regular use (Hoover don't tell you this before you buy it!), especially for people with pets, people with babies (lots of soft fluffy clothes) and the like.
I brought this model in July 2004, thought it was brilliant, washed really well, then the cold weather came, so I used the dryer, and it broke down in October, Novermber and early January. Each time the engineer said I was using it too much (I was using it every 2-3 days, that to me isn't a lot) and pretty much said as he left, see you next month. The trouble is the fluff that usually is removed on a filter in a tumble dryer gets flushed out the back of the machine, this vent partially blocks, the machine overheats and the heater cuts out, so your clothes spin round looking like they're drying only to come out soaking wet. Hoover seem happy to keep sending out repairmen, and flatly refuse an exchange or return (very customer friendly). Thankfully I brough this though a catalogue and they kindly have fought on my behalf to get a full refund.
I would maybe put this experience down to me getting a dodgy machine, but my mother brought the same model a month after me, and guess what? It broke down, for the same reason and the egineer told her she's been using it too much and had pets. My best advice and that of one of Hoovers own engineers was to get a seperate tumble dryer if you have room. If you don't have room try another make, and good luck, but bear in mind Hoover and Candy are one and the same, so you might want to avoid candy washer dryers also.
