I believed that Hoover was the market leader and bought one of their top of the range products. It is a very heavy machine. My wife and children all struggle with it. It is very "plasticy" and the attachments soon fall off. I would avoid this machine like the plague. It is simply overpriced and would reccomend people who want a machine like this to look at other manufacturers. The quality is just not there. In addition the filters get blocked very quickly and after replacing them the machine has a habit of not working until you give it a rest! It is also a very noisy machine. Perhaps this is to make it sound very powerful. It does pick up quite well but pushing it around is such hard work it is just not worth it. We tried it at the shop and because there was a wooden floor we didn't realise just how heavy it was.
