This is the first entry in a series I shall be doing covering my top five tracks by each of my individual favourite bands. It will feature the likes of Nirvana, Guns ?n? Roses, Green Day and U2, covering the aspects of the music that I like/dislike and my personal top ten by each band, and without wishing to start a battle - comments of agreement/disagreement are more than welcome. As my love for Nirvana has been more than over-exasperated this last week, I shall begin with a band that were, in truth, the first true rock band in my life. Bon Jovi where one of the biggest bands of the 1980s, they survived the decimation of hard rock by the grunge movement by refining their sound and sticking to their storytelling ethos. Above all that they had built up a rapport with their fans through extensive touring and their down-to-earth attitude; this allowed the band to still enjoy massive album sales and sold out stadium tours into the 1990s.
