I have owned this Hoover Performa AC110 for over seven years. I bought it at a trade centre and paid £199 + VAT (17.5%)

I was a bit wary of purchasing such a cheap machine, but in the seven years that I have had it, it has proved it's worth time and time again.

It doesn't have an exceptionally large drum, but I can squeeze in a double quilt to wash and that is big enough for me.

It is a hot fill machine apart from the pre-wash which is cold fill.

The spin speed is 1100, which is efficient enough. Apparently another 100 on the spin speed would only spin out a further egg cup full of water anyway. It also has a 'half spin' option.

The Hoover Performa AC110 has fourteen wash programmes, includes a delicates wash and a wool wash. The hottest wash is 90 degrees and the coolest is the cold pre-wash.

I was disappointed that the machine didn't have a quick wash cycle, I used to wash most lightly soiled items on that setting. But you get what you pay for. Most cycles run for over an hour. Even the wool and delicates cycles are nearly as lengthy.

It does however have a creaseguard option which I haven't bothered to ever use. I believe that it stops before a spin so that the clothes aren't left spun with creases.

The powder drawer is permanently bunged up with soggy powder, but it doesn't affect it's performance. I don't particularly like taking the drawer off to clean it, but the drawer is easily removable for cleaning.

The front bottom plinth fell off within a few weeks of use and I haven't bothered to get it repaired.

The door trim fell off after about a year, I didn't bother to replace that either. Neither faults affect the function and performance of the machine.

I have no idea what the energy efficiency rating is for this machine, as they weren't rated at the time of purchase. I don't know the specifications either as I bought it such a long time ago. I can tell you though it is white in colour and average in size and it has a round window. ; )

It does wash well, I wash a lot of heavily soiled workwear in it too.

It is used at least twice a day, so over seven years that is a lot of washing and very good value for money.

It is not the quietest machine that I have had, but it isn't the loudest either. We can go to bed and leave it on without being disturbed.

It is easily cleaned on teh exterior with a damp cloth.

It isn't easy to move out for cleaning, it is a very heavy appliance.

I will let you know when the thing eventually conks out, I won't get it repaired as I really want a machine with a quick wash facility again.

25/04/2005- Well this machine has had a good run for the money. I washed my shower curtain on Sunday and it shrunk on a wool cycle! Time to get a new one!

It says on the front of mine 'BY APPOINTMENT TO HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN' but I doubt if me and Elizabeth have the same model!

ps. still haven't checked it out with Liz.
