Advantages: It just goes on and on, lightweight, parts are cheap and easy to get
Disadvantages: No filters means its lousy for allergies, tool kit pointless for little suction. No longer on sale.

...In 1990 we had a very busy time of it, financial tax returns and decorations to the house meant we had to have a very tight financial budget to live on and by then it seemed that everything in our house started to go wrong. First we had to install a new combo gas boiler, then a new cooker was on the cards, the freezer blew up and to make matters worse our old faithful Hitachi cylinder vacuum ran out of suction. Asking around for a cheap vacuum cleaner never mind shopping for one was a trial in itself and I was used to using my mum's old metal Hoover Junior before she demanded it back. My partner's brother laughed at us when he saw our own Hoover Junior U1104 (the plastic one compared to my mum's old heavy metal one) but we couldn't afford anything else at that time, and for £45-00 it seemed a good bargain at the time.
