My last washing machine broke down a few weeks ago and after a painful 13 days my new Hoover was delivered, no it is a washing machine just made by Hoover.
I bought it from Littlewoods catalogue and it cost me £299.

Setting up and installation__

First I had to remove all the plastic packaging and polystyrene and place the washing machine near its permanent position. Next I cut the cable tie that was holding the hose in place. Then I removed four big long fixing screws in the back of the washing machine and covered them with a cap that was provided. Next to fix a bit of insulation sheet to the bottom of the machine with some double sided sticky pads and a couple of plastic caps.
I did not need to adjust the feet as the washing machine was stable and did not hop across the floor.
It only has a cold fill so only one hose to fit to the back and the hose was placed in the down pipe so the water can drain away. I found it easy to install.

Description of controls__

Time saver button

By pressing this button you reduce up to 50 minutes off your wash, this depends on the temperature and programme selected. This option may only be used on cottons and synthetics programmes.

Delay start button

Appliance start time can be set with this button every time it is pressed the start will be delayed by 3,6 or 9 hours the corresponding light will blink.

Sensitive care button

This only works on the cotton and mixed fabrics programmes. This washes your clothes in much larger quantity's of water and combined together with the new action of the drum rotation cycles will ensure your garments are treated with care. This function is designed for people who have sensitive skin and is guaranteed to was all detergent from your clothes.

Stain blaster button

By pressing this button which can only be activated in the cotton cycles, the sensors in the new system come into operation. They affect both the selected temperature, keeping it at a constant level throughout the cycle, and the mechanical function of the drum. The drum is made to turn two different speeds at curtail moments. When the detergent enters the garments, the drum rotates in such a way that the detergent is distributed in a uniform manor, but during the wash and rinse procedures the spin increases in order to maximise the cleaning action. Thanks to the new special system this improves the wash without increasing the length of the program.

Spin speed button

You can adjust the spin speed of the machine to suit your needs or even cancel the spin cycle with this button. It is possible to alter the speed without pausing the washing machine.

Programme selector__

AA special programme at 40 c
This special programme has been studied to allow you to obtain the best washing performance, even at full load, as the 60 cotton programme, but with the advantage of an energy saving due to 40 c temperature instead of 60 c, but the length of this programme is 3 hours!
Mixed and synthetic fabrics

The main wash and the rinse gives best results thanks to the rotation of the drum and to the waster levels. A gentle spin will mean that the fabrics become less creased.

It also has programmes for Acrylics, silk, rinse, drain and spin.

Sports

Hoover has given sports wear their own unique programme, it is specially designed to wash mixed sportswear fabrics that cannot be washed on hotter programmes and is designed to remove soil and staining created by participating in sports. This programme starts with a cold rewash that breaks down and loosens any excess dirt and then washes at a cool 30 c, rinses and spins slowly. The length of this programme is 2 hours.

Daily wash 40 c fast programmes

This machine is equipped with two daily fast functions , Fast 44 and fast 29 these are for lightly soiled garments and a smaller load the both wash at 40 c and take less time one is 29 minutes and one is 44 minutes.

Auto half load

This washing machine will determine if it is a full load or not and adjust accordingly.

Well there you go if that made any sense to you, I have read through the booklet and fully understand it now but when I firs read it, it totally baffled me, I think the main washes I will use are the normal 40c and 60c, the stain blaster sounds good for jazmins filthy school socks and if I had a couple of boys into football the sports button would come in handy.

Detergent drawer__

This is the same as any washing machine one soap compartment for pre wash one for normal and a small compartment for the fabric conditioner.

My thoughts__

I was amazed to know I could buy a washing machine that would fit my king size duvet in no problem, I was originally after one with a higher spin speed but when I saw this one with the huge door on it I could not resist, I think the reason the other one packed up was the fact that I crammed it too full. Now because of the 8kg load on this one I feel confident that I wont do that.

I was not originally looking for a Hoover washing machine because to me they should make Hoovers but as I have no savings and couldn't afford to buy one from a shop I was limited to my catalogue, it also was in the sale witch made me look at it in the first place, it was in my price range and had the features I wanted on it a 1200 spin and 8kd load witch was better than the last one I had, I also got a 5 year parts guarantee with it , finger crossed it goes wrong in them 5 years but I don't think it will.

I did have to stuff my king size duvet in just to see and yes it did fit, with a little room to spare. I have done a few loads of washing about the same size as I would put into my old one and it looked like half a load, I am most impressed with the size and how clean my clothes have come out. However I would say spend that little bit more and get the next one up just so you get the extra spin power, I wouldn't say my clothes come out too wet, just a little bit dryer would be good. But then again im never happy and will pick faults in everything.

All in all a very competent washing machine. It has a very high pitched spin but does not rattle and bang or jump across the floor, I would recommend this to anyone especially if they were into their sports.
