In addition to the previous review posted for this machine:
We have had one of these machines for 3 1/2 years and I can honestly say it is the worst washer/dryer on the market.
We gave up with the dryer function a couple of years ago and now just use it purely as a washing machine. The dryer used to take 3 times as long as a dedicated tumble dryer, and also has the irritating habit of covering all clothes with a film of white fluff.
Because it is still a relatively new machine in our eyes we persist with it. I have a contract through British Gas to cover against breakdown, which we have had to use on a regular basis.
Faults and niggles have been:
1 - Within 2 days of delivery the machine developed a massive water leak internally and was replaced. The delivery driver was the same, and couldn't believe he was coming back so soon. He left, laughing and shaking his head.
2 - The machine developed a power surge through the motor and blue electric sparks could be seen under the machine. This turned out to be faulty brushes on the motor.
3 - Main drum securing bolt rattled loose, resulting in the drum on a full spin cycle, trying to jump out of the machine and kill someone! (Well at least thats what it looked like).
4 - Drying function useless and covers clothes with fluff
5 - "Easy to clean" drawer and aperture? Not likely! get the band-aids ready!
6 - Programmble function button sticks mid cycle, whereupon you come to empty machine a few hours later to find the machine still full of water.
7 - Not child friendly. Our one year-old delights in eating washing powder mush out of the all to easy to open drawer, and also pressing all the buttons is a delight.
8 - Door seal occasionally likes to have a good leak
9 - Occasionally a wash will come out covered in grey stains for no apparent reason (Non-mixing of colours strictly adhered to)
10 - Boy is it noisy! When stood next to it, it sounds like a jumbo jet during take off! You can't hear yourself think.
To summarise:
That a known brand name such as Hoover, with the reputation that it has etc, could put it's hand to manufacturing such a pile of junk beggars belief. Never again will I buy a Hoover product in any way shape or form. They should be ashamed of themselves. Please Please Please keep away from this machine or any future generation manufactured by Hoover.
