Advantages: Pretty looking Disadvantages: Too many to mention
...My first mistake has to be that I picked a vacuum cleaner that looked pretty, that would go with the decor of my new house. My second mistake: trusting such a well known brand as Hoover.
It's red and white and to be honest looks like it can hoover up anything you put in front it, but the reality is it does nothing. The suction is absolutely terrible and you often have to go back and actually pick up the bits of fluff it has missed.
So far the removable hose has broken twice (and we've cleverly stuck it back together with superglue) and we weren't exactly doing anything more violent than hoovering the front room!
It's not only the shoddiness of manufacture which makes my £175 purchase a complete farce but also small things regarding the design. Surely by now the cable flex should have an automatic recoil, maybe this is me...

Advantages: It just goes on and on, lightweight, parts are cheap and easy to get Disadvantages: No filters means its lousy for allergies, tool kit pointless for little suction. No longer on sale.
...Dyson, we had our old Junior.
Roll on 2007 and the Junior is still with us; he is on his fourth Dyson! We call our Hoover Junior, "Jimmy" for short not just because Jimmy sucks up cat hair with no problem, but also larger pieces of dust as well as the odd coin and leaves a really good looking finish on the carpet. Jimmy has only been back to the shop we bought him from, twice since new in 1990 and this was for a new soft bag since the zip broke and then a new wheel.
But there are plenty of reasons to why we won't get rid of Jimmy even though there are obvious reasons to why consumers won't buy them; put simply, they're not on sale anymore!
~~ When Jimmy came to Stay ~~
After returning the old metal Junior to my mum, I walked past a private electrical shop one day and saw the beige/white Junior U1104 looking at me with a sale...

Advantages: Good value for money. Fast spin. It DRIES! Disadvantages: It doesn't always spin. Drying can take AGES.
...My Hoover doesn't suck, because it's a washer dryer, not a vacuum cleaner! Now THAT'S cleared up, we can continue.

As some of you may already know, I grew up in the States. Washing machines in the States are BIG - they are top loaders, and often have a room or part of a room (often the basement - oh, how I MISS basements *sigh*) to themselves. Next to the washing machine sits a tumble dryer - both are big enough to take at LEAST three days worth of laundry for a family of four.
What a shock it was for me when I came to live in the UK. I lived in a flat. There was just one dinky little washing machine in the kitchen under the counter (as another little aside, this is actually a better situation than many flat-dwellers have in the States...

Purchased this machine from Curry's on 12th April 2008. Found the machine quite noisy on the 1600 spin. The machine has a good load capacity, plenty of features and appeared good value for money. Unfortunately on 10th June 2008 the machine flooded our more
