I. INTRO
I have written this review, after recently, i just fancied a mug of good old Horlicks:
1. Go to cupboard, get out Horlicks
2. Add precise amount in to prevent over-maltiness.
3. Mix with warm milk (involves warming up milk)
4. Add water. ... Read review

Advantages: Instant , nothing to add but water ,rich in calcium , pleasant tasting , good value Disadvantages: Not as quite as good tasting as original Horlicks
.... My husband saw the Horlicks Light at work and thought this might help .
He bought a 600g value bag , with resealable clip . Shelf life was pretty good with best before date being a good year away .
It comes in a nice two tone blue bag with a rather restful looking , fast asleep man in the moon on the front . Mine had an additional yellow pull out sticker with " take the horlicks sleep challenge " on it . This stated if after 2 weeks you are still ... ...says do not disturb , Horlicks light and states:-
Helps restful sleep
Low in fat
Rich in calcium
Just add water
As far as I am concerned all of the above are correct .
Helps restful sleep -I do find if I have a mug of this 1/2 hour or so before bed that I seem to drop of to sleep more easily . More importantly I stay asleep . I have actually found , on a couple of occasions , that the first thing I have heard is the alarm clock ringing . Now ...

Advantages: Tastes wonderful and helps you sleep. Disadvantages: A little expensive, but worth it.
...why.
This product is Horlicks Light, and how it compares with Horlicks traditional is that it does not make you feel like you are going to bed with an uncomfortably full stomach.
SO WHAT IS HORLICKS LIGHT ?
**************************
It is a malt drink that is rich in calcium so very suitable for the older person, as well as the growing person whose needs may not be met by their diet. It is a rich milky drink, in instant form that is easily digested ... ...is easy. Three scoops of Horlicks in hot water. I like this because the old Horlicks was much more complicated.
AROMA
*****
Here, there is a feelgood factor. There is nothing nicer on a cold night than pouring out a cup of Horlicks and smelling the malt flavour. It is a really nice warming smell, and tempts the tastebuds.
TASTE

Unlike coffee and tea, Horlicks is a drink that soothes your body, and makes you feel satisfied and sleepy. ...

Advantages: You can make it nicer. Disadvantages: but it will not be so light.
...saw a double sachet of Horlicks Light for 57p. I thought this might make me chill for a bit. In supermarkets it is around the 50p mark.
The packaging
--------------------
Double packet that is made out of foil. The packets are two tone blues and has Horlicks in Capital letters over it. Underneath there is a mug of horlicks and writing saying its the light malted drink.
On the back of the packet is nutritional details and ingredients and also ... ...is the main ingredient of Horlicks and the smell soon as the boiling water hits it is gorgeous. Yes it did taste like the normal Horlicks but would it taste the same. The answer is no it did not. I found it to be very watery and did not have the ump that the normal brand has. When buying light products you expect a bit of a variation but not to this extent. Whilst I enjoyed it, it had none of the creamy taste that I associated with Horlicks. Other ...

Advantages: quick and easy, when you most need it to be Disadvantages: bitter burnt sugar
...After a long hard day at work, there is nothing that I like more than having a long hot bath, snuggling up in my dressing gown and letting the stresses and strain of the day ebb away. Sometimes that bath on its own does not do the trick and I need just a bit of help to make sure that I get a good night sleep so that I can start again when the alarm goes off in the morning
I have drunk HorlicksLight Chocolate Malt on many occasions to help me do this. It's nice and warming and does help me get to sleep.
Horlicks is a malt based drink. The original drink was made with hot milk, but a while ago they introduced HorlicksLight that is made with boiling water. It is much easier to use as you only need to boil the kettle and is lower in fat that the original. I am not too keen on the malted variety as it is quite an acquired...

Advantages: It's a relatively cheap drink Disadvantages: It doesn't taste great, doesn't send you to sleep
...I decided to sit down and watch a film with a cup of hot chocolate.
What could possibly go wrong? Firstly the film I decided to watch (The Shape of Things - free DVD from... well, I'll tell you at the end after you've read my review. It shall be your treat!) was possibly the most boring film ever made. Secondly the hot chocolate sachet (also free) contained, pretty much, brown food colouring with gritty bits. The sitting down bit went swimmingly though. One could be led to believe, from the above, that free things are generally rubbish - but this isn't true. The only other conclusion to be drawn is that Neil LaBute does not make good films, and that Horlicks does not make good hot chocolate.
Having hunted around my cupboards for some hot chocolate I stumbled upon a sachet of Horlicks Extra Light hot chocolate which I'd received...

Advantages: Great taste, low in fat, easy to prepare Disadvantages: none
...Three days ago I bought a 500g tub of Horlickslight malt chocolate,as a change from my usual choice of chocolate drink.
Both my stepson aged 10 and I agree that it is delicious.
We felt like we were having a real treat.
On the label it says just add water, however a good tip is to put two scoops in a mug add a dash of cold milk and make into a paste. Then pour on boiling water while stirring.
It has a rich creamy chocolate malt taste and is smooth to drink. I found it (personally) not as sickly sweet as most other chocolate drinks currently in the market.
The good news is that it is low in fat, rich in calcium and helps restful sleep.
There are no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners and its suitable for vegetarians.
Well worth trying and I personally am converted to this product from now on....

I must mention that most of these have dual voltages, 115 and 220 volts, you simply flick a switch to change over.
Some have different outputs for the light, although 60 watts seems to be the norm, this is perfect for a close examination. They all... more
