Advantages: Nick Hornby Disadvantages: There are only 31 songs !
"....it occurred to me that the answer was obvious: if you love a song, love it enough for it to accompany you throughout the different stages of your life, then any specific memory is rubbed away by use. If I'd heard 'Thunder Road' in some girl's bedroom in 1975, decided that it was OK, and had never seen the girl or listened to the song much again, then hearing it now would probably bring back the smell of her underarm deodorant. But that isn't what happened; what happened was......"
'31 Songs' is a book by Nick Hornby. He has decided to write about the 31 songs that have stuck with him throughout his life (with a few exceptions 'I'm like a bird' by Nelly Furtado. It is written in the same style as his great books 'Fever Pitch', 'About a Boy', 'High Fidelity' and 'How to be Good' - very easy to read. Nick reveals a great deal ...
Advantages: More of the same Disadvantages: Don't be daft
He has you know, I’ve mentioned on here before that he’s one of the few authors I do back-flips for when I hear he’s wrote a new book (apparently he does 1 book every 3 years so I’ve got a loooong time to wait yet), and that his books never take me long to finish, well as the title said – he’s done it again.

When I’d read it first time it’d taken me a little less than 2 days to read it – this time its been less than 24 hours and its been completely finished already.
Nick Hornby for those of you that don’t know is the man behind 2 of the 90’s ...
Advantages: easy to read, keeps the author interested Disadvantages: None
I've been a Hornby fan since the age of twelve. I remember Christmas that year, unwrapping the shiny paper on one of my presents to find a copy of "Fever Pitch" which I spent the whole of that afternoon reading. I'm one of those people who picks up a book and refuses to put it down until the last page has been turned, and even more so with Hornby books.
I saw the film of "Fever Pitch", then reread the book. I saw High Fidelity at the cinema, and bought that and About A Boy and read them both in one sitting. When How To Be Good came out, I restrained myself until last summer, when I was browsing through WH Smith at Gatwick airport while waiting for a flight to Turkey, and I gave in. Learning about "How To Be Good" was too much of a temptation...
Reading the blurb on the back, the book promises to be an interesting read. It deals ...
